Azeal: /* Open discussion about trade operations */

I have tested the advanced trade function, and here is what I know.

It acts like a vending machine. You set what you want to sell, add the items, set what you want in payment, and take your proceeds after the trade. You do not need to be present for the transaction. The only bad thing I can see with the system, is that you must have at least 1 of both, what you are offering, and what you are asking for in your inventory in order to set up the trade.

You must have the Advanced Trade skill to setup a trade. I will do this for any of you if you wish to set up a trade in the trading post, but don't have the skill yet. Any "Fresh off the welcome island" player can purchase items from the trade shelves.

So here is how it works...

Click the trade shelf, then set output. Select an item from your inventory. Add the number of your item that you wish to "stock" the shelf with. ( I don't know if there is a max item number. In my test I put 1k of wood). Click Trade, then Create Trade. Select the item in your inventory that you wish to receive. A popup will ask how much you require of the item you are to receive, followed by another asking how many you are offering to give in exchange (For example, my 1 straw in exchange for your 1 grass, or my 1 wood for your 10 grass).

When all of the stock is gone, you can either add more, or clear the display. To clear the display click the shelf, utility, clear display.

You can come and "Take" you proceeds at any time.

There are currently 18 trade shelves available. We can always expand when the need arises.

There is also the old style Trading Post in the center of the "Advanced" shelves for person to person trades if anybody cares to use it.

In further testing it appears that the maximum trade is 100 per item. This is based on, my output being 1500 straw asking for 1500 grass, but when making a trade it says 100 straw for 100 grass.

== Open discussion about trade operations ==

My proposals....

The current trade building will be used for guild trades, accessible by everyone so that no one person is left to manage it all on their own.

I have edited the blueprints to create a number of "wings" off of the main shop to be used for personal trade tables for members. These will work just like the trade chests, ie the tables will be built then "given" to the member to use as they wish for personal trading. If a member has been given tables and later decides to stop playing please turn the tables back over to the guild, or give them to Azeal, so that they are not lost.

All guild trades will be priced in the new Alone Together Script. Members are welcome to use this system as well. I in fact would encourage that, for the ease of use to the customers, but it is totally up to the individual, as to where personal tables are concerned.

In the near future I will visit as many different shops that use script as I can find, so that I can formulate a fair, and competitive price list for our script and items we may place on sale. I envision the items that will be excepted for our script to be mostly raw materials, and maybe some low level produced goods such as wood, gravel, CC, flax, rotten flax, iron, copper...

I think all of this should be a group decision, so please add your thoughts to the conversation. I am open to ideas and suggestions!

== Script notes ==

So there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how people are pricing their script, so I guess it is up to us to set the standard.

First question... Denomination sizes

I suppose 1, 10, and 100 maybe? (I think maybe only 2 denominations may be enough, but want to know what you guys think...)

Second question... script prices.

That I think should be based on the effort required to gather the item, at least to a certain degree.
Maybe something like easy stuff like wood, flax, rotten flax, clay... 100 per 1 script (or the lowest denomination we go with.)
Stuff that takes a little more effort like gravel, common metals, ash, lime... 50 per 1 script.

Third question... Item prices for what we trade.

For now that may need to go on an item by item basis.

I am open to ideas on any of this! We can discuss it all in the regular chat, but please leave your thoughts here as well, so that they don't get lost in the mix and we can refer back to each others opinions on the matter to decide collectively how to do all of this.

Azeal: /* A couple points */

== A couple points ==

I would like to take a moment and stress a few points.
Please don't take any of this the wrong way, as it may come off harsher than intended which is not my intention.

Alone Together was never intended to be a supply depot for its members, but rather as source of facilities to be used to assist members in building their own operations, to help new players get started, and to have a group of people ready to help one another with tests and tasks that can not be completed by a solo player. A-T has evolved a little since its creation, but that basic tenant is still the core of what A-T is all about.
That being said, if you are short some mats for a personal project, and there is a surplus of those items in the guild ware houses, by all means use them, that is why they are there. Simply replace what you have used when you can, or pitch in with some other "chore" such as wood collecting, basic metal mining, making CC, wax harvesting... something of that nature. With many the new steam machines this is less important for some items, but still be reasonable in what you take for personal use. If you need a large amount of something for a personal project, it can probably be accommodated, but check the projects page first to ensure it's not currently being produced to fill a need there, or ask if you're not sure.

This one is kind of big to me.

I am very much anti-hoarder. I understand that many people like to have large amounts of everything on hand, so that they can grab what they need and go. I agree with that to a degree. I have no problem with keeping a reasonable amount of stuff on hand. But it is really easy to go over-board and create major storage issues. Case in point... Somebody recently processed a large amount of tow into a huge amount twine. There was already plenty of twine and rope on hand, so now we have a warehouse full of twine and no room to add textile items that are in lower supply. The point being, only process what you need for your project, or to replenish a reasonable on-hand supply of any given item. And if an item can be stored in the machine it is produced in, or the animal pen it originates in, leave it there rather than fill the ware houses with stuff that does not need to be moved until it is needed. (Again within reason)

Exceptions to that would be if there is a big project coming up, be it a guild project, tech research, or even a big personal project somebody is getting ready for. In those cases some temporary "hoarding" may be in order. If something of that nature is in progress let me know and I will help accommodate whatever is needed, and probably pitch in if I am able.

Clinker, Honey, and Royal Jelly

All of these are items that collect far quicker than they can be used up. We can produce way more clinker at our iron mine alone where our Heavy Clinker Vat is located than we will ever need. There is no reason to keep any produced in the main camp, or out at the copper mine. All it does is use up valuable storage space. Please just toss it out.
For honey and Royal Jelly, check the current supply... Right now we have a pretty large stock of both, so until supplies start getting low just drop them as well.

The Papy Tanks

The 28 seeds/100 papy harvest takes up to 24 hours to complete. Ten tanks produces 1000 sterile papy per growing. If you do a harvest, please harvest it all and replant the tanks. Seeds are stashed in the riverside WH. Do not let the seed supply dip below 100. If it is getting close, let me know and I will do a papy run. (Or if you have the time and desire, by all means go ahead and do a papy run yourself. It won't hurt my feelings I promise! LOL) Seriously! Papy growing is one of those tedious chores that we all hate a little, but the seeds go fast, so if you are using a lot of them, help to restock when you can. Stash any that you don't need in the riverside WH. If you only need a little and don't want to do a harvest, check the WH as there is generally a couple K on hand. If all of the tanks have not matured, please wait to harvest until they all have so that the 24 hour cycle is not disrupted. IE some tanks have only a few hours left, but others have a whole day to go.

And finally, why all of this is important to me...

In the mega guilds such as ZFree, (Not bashing them here! They are a great group of people!) members have access to all of their facilities, which is a HUGE benefit, but until you gain rank you have no access to any supplies at all. I understand why they need to do this, but I don't want that for A-T. I by far prefer to keep everything available to everybody, and very much want to be able to keep it that way (the two exceptions being the guild projects wh and my personal storage chests/WH).

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have thought or comments about any of this, or any other subject for that matter, by all means share them. I may have built all of this for you, the members, but you the members should have a say too. That is the only way this organization can grow and evolve.
