Tip: Build your anvil facing east to west instead of north to south because it will be much easier to work materials on the anvil using cartographer's camera from the camera options menu. The front of the anvil needs to face south (rotate once clockwise).

==Use==
An anvil is used to create various metal tools by shaping a block of metal into a specific pattern. Using an anvil requires the [[Blacksmithing]] tech.

This uses various smithing [[Tools]], each with a different pattern in pushing metal:

*[[Shaping Mallet]]
*[[Wide Cobalt Chisel]]

The finished products are assigned a quality based on how close they are to the goal. The higher the quality, the more effective the tool, with 9999 being perfect. An anvil can produce the following:

*[[produces::Carpentry Blade]] - 1 metal; requires quality 3000+ to be used

*[[produces::Scythe Blade]] - Not fully implemented as of 9/18, can be made but has no use.

==Regrade==
The Regrade function damages the loaded item and rounds its quality DOWN to the nearest 1000th quality (e.g. Q9157 becomes Q9000) and renames it. The regraded items will stack and can be more effectively sold in a shop.

The way an anvil is rotated is an important decision to make. The default construction site is North-South where the blade end of an object is on the East side:

* Deleting outdated info. I think the movement through "sea routes" might be the Red Sea, probably not the ocean north of the Nile Delta, even though that letter was recovered on the northern shore. Prince K might be Viceroy Kushti, or might be an actual prince of (off-map) Kush. The "terrain in the south" that's causing problems says weird things about what's going on - these people want to travel through Upper Egypt and below I'm guessing. Are they attacking from Kush? Are they attacking into Kush? I think we need to establish communication with Kush - the country, not the house. The /s and :s in the messages are, : to separate words, and / to separate every five letters. :: separates sentences. I don't know why the "every 5 letters" is in there, unless it's for flavor, but you can use it to tell how many letters (mod 5) there are in damaged sections. It's possible to arrange the messages into a tall column five letters wide, according to the slashes. If you tip it sideways, it looks something like this - I give it 90% that this is meaningless, but 10% there's something here, maybe indexed into in some other way. * Wild speculation: Prince K is an unspecified person from House Kush, and the abduction will be used to sow discord before an invasion from the sea (so we need to be prepared to show unity). Or - Prince K is not from Egypt, and the abduction is a false flag to create an excuse for a full-scale invasion of Egypt (so we need to be prepared to warn Prince K somehow). Either way, we may need to fortify the coast and expect (al)chemical attacks. I have no idea how the raiders play into this, but I think they're different groups.
