This upgrade expands the hopper to hold 4500 Wet Clay items or Wet Firebricks at once, replacing 150 Reinforced Kilns.

== Use ==

The Steam Kiln can be fueled with up to 1000 coal at a time. You only need enough coal to burn the amount of Wet clay items you have in the hopper. Produces several small kiln products: [[produces::Firebricks]], [[produces::Clay Bricks]], and [[produces::Jugs]]. It cannot produce [[Clay Mortars]] or [[Clay Cookpots]].
Only one type of item can be loaded at a time, so you will need to empty the kiln between each run in the same manner as a [[Small Distaff|Distaff]].

Tuning the Steam Kiln improves its efficiency, as well as its speed of production. A Steam Kiln tuned to level 8 consumes around 6 coal per 1500 dry items produced.

Base production rate (Untuned and without a Springbox): The kiln produces 15 dry items per tick and use 1 Coal every tick. A tick being about 2 Teppy Minutes long.
* Tuned to Level 1 with no Springbox, the kiln appears to produce 15 dry items per tick and use 1 Coal every 2 ticks. A tick being about 2 Teppy Minutes long.
* Tuned to Level 1 with 8,9k Springbox, the kiln appears to produce 45 dry items per tick and use 1 Coal every 2 ticks. A tick being about 2 Teppy Minutes long

== Other Upgrades ==

Like other automated buildings, it may be [[Mechanics|tuned]] and upgraded with a [[requires::Springbox]]. Unlike other buildings, both Tuning and installing a [[Springbox]] increases the efficiency in terms of baked items:coal, as well as the speed at which the items are produced.
