A '''springbox''' can be fitted to some machines to increase their operating speed. This performance improvement may be applied regardless of whether the machine has been [[Mechanics|tuned]]. Assembling and installing Springboxes, as well as checking a building's specific Springbox requirement, may only be done by one who knows [[Advanced Automation]].

The [[quality]] of the [[spring]] used will affect the performance improvement. Higher quality is better. Quality of 8500 appears to increase rate by 2.5x. Quality of around 7500 appears to increase rate by 2x. It is possible this may vary from machine to machine - if you have the time, please confirm with your own data!

Springboxes are made from 1 [[requires::Spring]], 1 [[requires::Cotter Pin]] and a random three-output [[requires::Gearbox]].

The gearbox required may be determined by using the Check Spring Box requirement option of the Utility submenu of the machine.
