You pay money to play a game because you get enjoyment and/or satisfaction from playing, right?
The things that I have enjoyed for the last 13 years are:
1) the people: for the most part, caring, helpful and good people you enjoy knowing
2) helping people with things you know and/or trying to teach what you know
3) helping with research and finding a region where no one was doing research and see how much can be done solo or a very small group
4) if there is something you did't enjoy, you could ignore it!
What changed?
1) Three factions, all are in conflict with each other
2) Four times as many Regions
3) One/third as many Schools and Universities
4) No System chat
The Result
You can't ignore everything that you don't like anymore
Unless you have no conflicts with "real life", you have to be part of large guild, the larger the better to make any advances in less than weeks or months
It makes people selfish: don't tell anyone or don't update the wiki, helpful people either drop out or are labelled "Pariahs"
No Region has a full set of Universities except the 3 home faction regions so there is no opportunity for individual research projects
Solo players or pairs or very small groups are discriminated against
Comments:
I still feel that Malard lied to me about what was changing, he told me what I wanted to hear before I paid for 6 months.
For instance: Q Can I ignore factions? A Yes -> but you can't even get off the Island without picking one of the factions
You help someone and later you get a message that you are being demoted in your faction for helping someone outside of your faction, if you are demoted enough, you become a "Pariah"
This game has become something that appeals to "drama lover", "screw you" or a "I wouldn't help you if I could" types of people
The wiki is almost useless since it seldom gets updated since the people that did most of the updates in past have quit!
Development has become erratic, new knives or new animals or a new "shiny" verses fixing what is currently a major problem
Some problems require you to go to Discord and beg for help as the support/DEV person needed to fix the problem doesn't play the game
There aren't enough GMs, I've tried reporting a problem several times on many days and never got a response since I can't stay on for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time
I could go on for several more pages but if I do, then there is no chance that someone would read this
Finally, if you like it here, please enjoy and have fun for me, too!!
