A Sigil of Ra is a complex item used in the Test of the Hand of Ra.

Source

Instructions for how to construct your personalised Sigil are obtained from the University of Architecture after starting the Hand of Ra test.

  • after starting the Test, click on the university a second time, select Tests > Hand of Ra > Sigils of Ra
  • to retrieve the instructions again, click yourself > Tests > Architecture > Test of Hand of Ra > See current instructions

The popup will tell you what you need, for example {production method} a golden sigil inlaid with {metal1} and {metal2}. Set a {bead} and {gem} into the sigil. Finally, add decorations of {foil1}, {foil2} and {foil3}.

Step 1: Making the Golden Sigil

Personal Sigils can be Forged, Cast or made from Jewelled Glass, the instructions will state which method is required.

  • Forging and Casting a Sigil requires 1 Gold and one deben of each of the two other metals shown in the instructions. These take 10 minutes to cool.
  • Making a Jewelled Glass Sigil requires 1 Gold plus one deben of each of the two other metals shown in the instructions. These take 180 seconds to cool on a Glazier's Bench.

Note: the order of the metals at this point does not have to match the order given in the instructions. The two random metals can be added in any order. Metals are biased to including alloys but do not (yet) include the new tale 8 prospected metals.

After the Sigil has cooled, it will appear in your inventory with your name and a sequential number.

Step 2: Setting with Gems and Beads

The Sigil instructions specify which Gems or Beads need to be set into the Sigil. Regardless of whether the Sigil was Forged, Cast or made from glass, the stones need to be set in a Forge (Student or Master). This step takes 5 minutes to cool.

Step 3: Adding Decorations

After the stones have been set, the sigil needs to be inlaid with three randomly chosen metal foils or wires. This step is done by clicking Self->Skills->Goldwork->Sigil->Add Decorations and is instant in production. The menu only shows when you have the Golden Sigil in inventory.

Note: metal foils requested are biased to alloys such as Octec's Alloy, but do not (yet) include the new tale 8 metals.

Step 4: Confirming Sigil Production

The last step to make the Sigil is to present it at the University of Architecture, they will verify that the steps have been followed correctly. If the Sigil is acceptable, it will change name from a user-specific name to just 'Sigil of Ra'. When this happens, the University will automatically give a new set of instructions for how to make another Sigil.

Note: do not make more than one Sigil at a time, as you can only convert one sigil for the instructions you receive, and it is highly unlikely you will roll the exact same set of instructions (the odds are around eight billion to 1)

Use

When a Mirrored Pyramid is upgraded to a larger size, there is a probability that it will collapse (based on the size to be upgraded to). If the player has a Sigil of Ra (or multiple Sigils) in their inventory, each Sigil prevents one collapse of the pyramid. For example, if a pyramid of size 50 is upgraded to size 51, there is a 50% chance the pyramid will collapse when upgraded. With one Sigil of Ra, one possible collapse can be avoided and the upgrade is "re-rolled".

Multiple Sigils can be created (one at a time), and multiple Sigils can be consumed when the pyramid is upgraded if the "re-roll" still results in a collapse. The upgrade will continue until either the pyramid stands at the new size, or the player runs out of Sigils and the pyramid collapses.
