Beer Brewing Automation

From A Wiki in the Desert
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Beer Brewing Automation is a multiple level skill from the School of Body allowing one to brew Beer without having to be near the beer kettle for every stage of the brewing.
One must first learn Beer Brewing Science, which is learned automatically upon successfully brewing and barrelling a beer manually.
Automated sealing of the beer kettle has not yet been discovered.

Tuition

  • Level 1: 200 Candles, 50 Rope
    • Allows 1 ingredient to be scheduled
  • Level 2: 500 Candles, 150 Rope
    • Allows 2 ingredients to be scheduled
  • Level 3: 1500 Candles, 400 Rope
    • Allows 3 ingredients to be scheduled
  • Level 4: 2000 Candles, 700 Rope
    • Allows ??

Note: "Show what was unlocked" lists 7 levels; however Malard has stated that there are only 4.

Use

  • Click the "Beer" button, and then click again to refresh the window and show the "Schedule" menu
  • Each scheduled step requires 1 Candle and 1 Rope, plus the ingredients.
    • After entering in the ingredient and the quantity, you must set the time: "After how many seconds" Please note that some math is required to convert from the usual recipe format! If you want to schedule a Finish ingredient to be added when the timer reaches 10 seconds left in the brewing cycle, then it will be added after 1190 seconds have passed in the 1200 second brewing stage.
  • Once the item is scheduled to be added, it is removed from your inventory. The schedule can be reviewed before the brewing process is started. (Note: As it currently stands, the wording of the example above will show in the Schedule menu as the ingredient being added "at 1190 seconds". In the finished product, the results are as if it was added "after 1190 seconds" as when it was set up.)
  • Before brewing has started, there is the option to "Reset" the schedule. Materials are returned to the player's inventory.

Observations

I have observed very slightly different beer results when using automatic brewing vs adding ingredients manually at as close to the same time as I can manage - interested to see if this happens for others, as well, and what it might imply about how brewing actually works. (Somebob)

So, I brewed a beer the usual way and got good results. I brewed with the timer and got very bad results. After playing with a beer calculator, I discovered that it is likely that the time we instruct it to add the ingredient matches the countdown timer instead of the time elapsed since the brewing started (Peacefulness)
