In Tale 7 the zfree elders worked hard early on to set up zfree. We expanded quickly and became a large guild of over 150 members! The collaborative way that guild members work together was amazing, and has helped us be pretty successful, and frequently referred to by the developers (at one time, a developer was even a member of the guild!) Our guild has most importantly become a social hub for members to share being part of this unique community. In tale 8, this will continue. zFree helps to provide the facilities that enable us to achieve our individual and collective goals, including regional research.

Member Behaviour

We are a large guild, so it is important that we all follow some common guidelines:

  • No drama in the guild-chat. If you have a problem with someone, please take it to private chat. There is a zero-tolerance to drama in the guild chat.
  • Collaborate with courtesy: zFree was founded as a no drama space! The zFree elders work together to enforce this.
  • No personal buildings in the zFree camp, except for designated items in designated areas
  • A single trade container can be placed in the Post Office compound
  • Art and Thought test buildings can be placed into the Art and Thought Compound, or for non-compound buildings, in the area nearby
  • Please use guild materials appropriately.
  • Individual projects, you should bring your own materials wherever possible. Failing that, bring raw materials to make the end products.
  • Guild and Regional projects, check with an Elder for collections that have been made towards the projects.
  • If you can donate, please do - you may find something easy, whereas someone else might find it hard.
  • Nothing is too small to donate, right down to wood, clay and grass, everything is needed.
  • Give and take: Donations are always welcome, particularly if you've benefited from the guild's resources - look for the warehouses!
  • Herbs, Mushrooms, Fish - these are needed by the cooks to make the food.
  • Harvesting the greenhouses really helps, your quick click "Harvest" can feed a camel for a day!
  • Grabbed some spare wood? Please add to the bonfires. Wood goes quickly (so many things need charcoal!)
  • Respect the Environment: No pollution near the designated flax and veggies growing areas.
  • If in doubt, please ask an Elder.

Membership

Towards the beginning of the tale, the hardest thing to allowing members into the guild is the cost of guild expansion. Therefore, we seek your assistance by making a donation of bricks (or straw) and boards, so that we can make the materials needed to get an expansion. The costs of making space is exponential, adding one space costs (N2 + 4N + 52) boards and (2*N2 + 8N + 54) bricks, which of course makes it quite expensive after a few members have joined. To streamline the costs, we'll upgrade in batches, but this will only work if we can all get some bricks and boards. So, please donate bricks and boards, whatever you can manage - no donation is too small!

Once accepted to the guild, we primarily have four levels of membership:

  • Initiates - this is the level allocated when you first join zFree. Once we get to know you, you'll go up in rank. Access to guild resources are minimal, and building access is limited to those that don't hold any resources. This is mainly because we have had people in previous tales empty out the warehouses of materials for their own selfish needs. We don't mind helping, but we don't like being taken advantage of.
  • Members - this is the default level for most. At this stage, you gain access to many of the guild resources and guild buildings.
  • Patriarch - this is for the guildies who are helping a lot, and have shown to be quite reliable and trustworthy. Only the rarest of resources and critical building functions are not accessible.
  • Elder - this is for the rarest of resources (those that take a lot of effort to obtain or are low in quantity) and critical functions (like making explosives in the chemistry lab)

If something is higher than your level, but you would like to use/obtain, please engage an Elder. We are quite flexible, and can make arrangements to lower building permissions and/or provide resources in appropriate cases. The key to this is engagement - Engage in the guild.

Resources

Once we find locations of the various resources, the best ones for the guild will be listed in this section

Sub-Guilds

  • zElders - guild just for the Elders, this is used by elders to discuss anything related to the guild
