The Wikis for Tales 4, 5, 6, and 7 have finally been restored. They are now live and available at their original "atitd.org" URLs so links shouldn't have to be updated at all. A lot of updating and elbow grease went into getting them working on a modern server architecture so please post in #wiki-editing on Discord or /chat Brad in-game if you notice any glaring issues with these Wikis.

As has already been mentioned numerous times, the Tale 7 Wiki has been restored from a backup from early- to mid-2016 so it is missing a lot of updates and information. The sidebar now offers you the choice between this out-of-date version or the Archive.org version which. The out-of-date version offers the ability to "View Source" so you can grab Wiki text, whereas the Archive.org version will be more up-to-date but doesn't offer the "View Source" option.

The Wikis for Tales 1, 2, and 3 will be a little trickier to bring back online but it is something that's in the works. And, of course, the Tale 8 Wiki is also still a priority so hopefully we'll have some cool new updates coming here as well.

Thanks everyone for your continued support and interest!

Restoration of the Wikis for Tales 1-7 is still ongoing. It looks like the Tale 7 Wiki was receiving significantly more traffic than I was expecting so I'm going to have to restore those Wikis to a dedicated server instead of the ultra cheap hosting I had planned on using. This will delay things a bit longer but I'm hoping to have things back online soon.

On that note, as several people have already noticed, the Tale 7 Wiki has been restored using a backup from early- to mid-2016 so it isn't particularly up to date. I'm exploring some other options and reaching out to people but your best bet on getting the most recent versions of a given page from the Tale 7 Wiki is by using Archive.org. In addition, until the T1 to T6 Wikis are also restored, you can always find those pages there as well.

In addition to restoring the Wikis, there has been some interest and discussion about restoring "The Goods" website to facilitate trading. I have the code and data needed to revive that as well so, if you're interested in seeing that make a comeback, please /chat Brad in-game and let me know so I can adjust my priorities appropriately.

Thanks everyone for your continued support and interest!

We have a new Wiki! With it comes some great changes! If you're a Wiki enthusiast, here's an overview of what to look for:

  • Semantic MediaWiki is now installed and fully functional (by popular request). Previously used semantic properties will need to be recreated as they were not functional on the Desert Nomad Wiki and were removed from all pages well over a month ago.
  • Several new extensions have been added to the Wiki which will allow lots of new functionality, mostly in creating enhanced templates. The new extensions are:
  • Improved search functionality using the Elasticsearch search engine.
  • Massive speed improvements through several layers of caching, use of content delivery networks, and other infrastructure considerations of a technical nature. Everything on the Wiki should now be blazing fast 24/7.
  • (minor) Cleaner URLs: The index.php?title= is now neatly hidden in URLs and a shorter domain name makes for a cleaner looking experience. (e.g. https://atitd.wiki/tale8/Bricks is now https://atitd.wiki/tale8/Bricks)

With these changes in place, work will now begin on overhauling a lot of content making the Wiki more robust, tidy, and accurate. If you're interested in helping out, consider joining READ - The Wiki Guild in-game. Our Guild Hall is located in Upper Egypt (829, -1833), just North of the Koptos Chariot Stop. Otherwise, we'll be active in the #wiki-editing channel on Discord, as well. If nothing else, please let us know if you have any ideas or other feedback for us and we'd also like to encourage you to fill out our one question survey about how you use the Wiki. The surveys give us a better idea how Egypt uses the Wiki and helps us know where to focus our efforts.
