There is no recipe for this item at the moment as the requirements are quite complicated (and all baths are different in the way they react), but one arsenic-free strategy seems to be:
* Increase the purity of the [[Strontium]] by adding [[Salts of Strontium]] at the start (until the purity bar is completely full). This should take about 4 Salts of Strontium. This will, unfortunately, increase a couple of the stats that we're trying to decrease but there's not really any way around that. Watch purity every few dozen seconds of treatment to not go too low! Try to keep it on a high value!!
+
*Increase the Plating rating and reduce the Corrosion, Conductivity and Toxicity stats in incremental stages using a combination of [[Coal]], [[Gravel]], [[Saltpeter]] and [[Cabbage Juice]]. This method had very tight timings and back-and-forth with several stats, so experimenting with exactly how many seconds may be necessary instead of doing things in the usual increments of 10.
*Reduce the Corrosion, Conductivity and Toxicity stats in incremental stages using a combination of all the ingredients except Sulphur (which has high values for all these attributes).
+
*Once the Plating attribute is high enough, add a few Salts of Gold so the tank reads Metal Salt: Gold next to the indicator of the metal in the bath. If the other attributes go out of balance, correct with aforementioned ingredients. If all else fails, and your tank just has uncooperative K-values, [[Arsenic]] can be helpful near the end of treatment, but as it is pricey it is best avoided if possible
*Once the three important attributes are all at zero (or as good as), start increasing the Plating attribute using first [[Salt]], then [[Coal]], then finally [[Arsenic]] in order to get the Plating attribute up to 56 before adding the [[Salts of Gold]] for plating. Keep the other three attributes at as low a level as possible by using [[Potash]], [[Gravel]] and [[Cactus Sap]].
+
* Once the Plating Attribute reads 'Plated', and the other stats are still in acceptable ranges, you can go ahead and take your treated metal!
*Once the Plating attribute is high enough (i.e., Arsenic doesn't raise it any further), start adding Salts of Gold, but keep the other three attributes low enough. This should take about 2-5 Salts of Gold.

Once the Plating Attribute reads 'Plated', you can go ahead and take your treated metal!

Tongs are used in Basic Metal Treatment. They allow the re-use of the Acid required to start the Metal Treatment process in a Chemical Bath.

Sources

Tongs are made in a Forge

Cost

  • 18 gold plated Strontium (stainless, insulative, non toxic) purity 4+, taking 3 minutes to cool.

Uses

  • Used to remove items from a Chemical Bath. Without tongs, you can only remove items by emptying the Acid from the bath.

Guide

There is no recipe for this item at the moment as the requirements are quite complicated (and all baths are different in the way they react), but one arsenic-free strategy seems to be:

  • Increase the Plating rating and reduce the Corrosion, Conductivity and Toxicity stats in incremental stages using a combination of Coal, Gravel, Saltpeter and Cabbage Juice. This method had very tight timings and back-and-forth with several stats, so experimenting with exactly how many seconds may be necessary instead of doing things in the usual increments of 10.
  • Once the Plating attribute is high enough, add a few Salts of Gold so the tank reads Metal Salt: Gold next to the indicator of the metal in the bath. If the other attributes go out of balance, correct with aforementioned ingredients. If all else fails, and your tank just has uncooperative K-values, Arsenic can be helpful near the end of treatment, but as it is pricey it is best avoided if possible
  • Once the Plating Attribute reads 'Plated', and the other stats are still in acceptable ranges, you can go ahead and take your treated metal!
