Test Description

You sign up for the Test of the Archaeologist and learn how to craft Archaeological Shovels (also requires the Blacksmithing skill), build Trophy Cases, and excavate sites. You are also given a list of relics to search for. Trading relics with fellow Archaeologists is encouraged.

Principles

Trophy Cases display the finest and rarest relics from your travels.

  • Build a Trophy Case
  • Find an Archaeological Dig Site
  • Successfully Extract a Relic
  • Install Three Relics in your Trophy Case
  • Check your Score (At least 21 Points)

Additional Information

The Test of the Archaeologist is the second test available in the discipline of Body.

  • Hunt for Archaeological Dig Sites on the roads of Egypt.
  • Extract Relics from them using an Archaeologist's Shovel.
    • If you are successful at getting a relic you have to pick it up from the ground. Some are tiny and hard to see.
    • Use Utility/Make Nearby Portables Look Like Bags to expose the tiny relics
  • When you start the test, you will be given a list of your 14 ideal Relics.
  • Your goal is to find relics that match as many attributes as possible on your list.
  • You gain permanent Focus points from having a higher score than others, before and after the actual passing of the test (see below for details).

Passing the Principle

  • Review your relic list. Self > Test > Test of the Archeologist > Read my Relic List...
  • Install 3 types of Relics listed in your Relic List into your Trophy Case
  • Note that they must be 3 different types. (ie you can't install 2 Security Props)
  • Each type automatically gives you 7 points, so regardless of attributes, check your score and you'll pass.

Scoring

  • When you install a relic in your Trophy Case, you will receive 1 point, with a 7x multiplier if you found it yourself.
  • Each attribute on the relic that matches your ideal list will add a multiplier to the score for that relic.
  • The multiplier for each attribute appears to be equal to the number of possibilities for that attribute minus 1, with the exception of color (which maxes out at 7).
    • Color: 7x
    • Size: 4x
    • Sturdyness: 2x
    • Weight: 3x
    • Age: 3x
    • Purpose: 4x
  • The score of any relic is:
Collected By * Color * Size * Sturdyness * Weight * Age * Purpose
  • You may not install more than one of a particular type of relic in the case.
  • You may, however, remove installed relics, if you find a better match.
  • Although you do not get the 7x multiplier if you install a relic you did not find yourself, often it may still be better to do so if you can match more attributes.

Passing the Test

  • Requires 7 relics in your Trophy Case to complete.
  • The top three Archaeologist scores each week pass.

Permanent Focus Increase

You can gain a total of 21 Focus from the Test of the Archaeologist. You may earn up to 7 points, one point per week, in three categories:

  • Archaeologist Base (uncertain how, but might be +1 for every week you have a higher score than that week's lowest passing relic chest, might also be connected to the number of relics you picked yourself)
  • Archaeologist Bonus for surpassing that weeks' best
  • Archaeologist Bonus each week as Egypt's for top score

Self/Special/Explain my Focus shows the details about your current score:

  • Archaeologist Base: 7
  • Archaeologist Bonus for surpassing that weeks' best: 5
  • Archaeologist Bonus each week as Egypt's for top score:
                      0
  • Tattoos Earned: 7

Tattoos are earned from Test of the Ritual Tattoo.

It seems not to show a Focus point gained from Test of the Fisherman.

You can continue to add and swap out relics from your relic chest even after a pass. Relics used to when passing the test will be marked with a "*" in their name. Asterisked relics cannot be installed in another player's chest. By continuing to collect relics from Arch Sites you can improve your scores and gain the extra focus points.
