User talk:Peacefulness/Pigs
suggestions welcome!
I was hoping to make the page shorter, but I don't think I succeeded. Anything that can be trimmed or shortened? (Peacefulness)

Feedback from Slartibartfast, being edited. Thank you very much!
A few adjustment suggestions regarding the piggy page. Some are pretty minor nitpicky things, other I think are relatively important or useful. Take or leave as you please.
1) "if the wheat has been roasted, it should also work for leading the pig."
to "Roasted wheat should work as well."
2) "Every three server hours, or if you prefer, every 9 game hours,"
--[ just for grits and shins, might want to include a link to the time page--though it's probably unlikely that anyone who is ready for pigs doesn't understand the three times, you never know what kind of shenanigans noobs might get up to ;p .]
3) "Athrinbyan + Qusian 40-48 20-29 30-39 These four combinations cover most of the pigs being tended by players"
--It's not entirely clear exactly what 'these four'refers to (Finally figured out a clear way to format it)
4) So just to clarify, 15 pigs WILL reproduce, more that 15 won't, right?
Looking for a simple way to clarify that
5) In the happiness section, if my understanding is correct you should mention it. My understanding is that if you pull a piggy out of the swinery, and slaughter it outside the swinery, even right IN FRONT OF ITS FRIENDS AND FAMILY, they will be unmoved.
6) Regarding the bit of code under Pet Pigs, IMO you're best off giving a brief explanation that the code-ignorant (like myself) will understand. [Otherwise, you know us noobs and our constant noobish questions ]
My enormous facility with figuring stuff out allows me to surmise that this should do: "Essentially, if the pig happiness is below zero , a random number between 0 and 100 is added to it, and if the result is still below zero, the pig runs away."
7) "Each breed of pig may discover a different type of clay.""
--Use of 'may' here may be problematic. I can come up with a few different things it could mean. I would need to hear what it actually means to suggest better phasing. For example, it could mean we're not sure if different breeds discover different types of clay, or that each breed does discover different types, but... well who cares about possibilities, what I THINK you're saying that pigs of different breeds might, can, or do discover different types of clay in the same spot? Are all breeds capable of finding all types of clay, but a given breed will always find a given type at a given spot, which is often different from what another breed will always find at the same spot? Or is it not always, does it change with same breed same spot?
8) As for the rest of that paragraph, It needs kind of a tie it up summary. Are you saying that you can build the ovens next to each other regardless, but if they are identified by the same breed, their dredging mechanisms will interfere? But the dredging mechanisms on ovens over clay discovered by different breeds will not interfere? I could help rewording if I knew whether or not that's what it really means.
PeacefulnessYesterday at 7:53 PM Thank you VERY much!
1) shorter is better! Its gotten to be a long, wordy page again
2) link to the time page, excellent idea
3) yeah, I tried to get that block to "lose its lines" so that the comment would refer to that line and the three beneath it. I haven't figured out how yet!
4) Yep. I had 15 pigs one day and 32 pigs the next day. At 15, you can't add any more, but they will still have one more round of piglets. Above 16, they shouldn't reproduce.(edited)
PeacefulnessYesterday at 8:44 PM 5) Happiness in the swinery is not affected by slaughterings outside the swinery. That is correct and I'll add that more explicitly
yeah....Malard posted the code, and I really didn't "get it" until he explained it one step at a time
Ad DeliriumYesterday at 8:45 PM it's the kinda thing that perceptive people like you and I would conclude logically, but some folks might not make the step
i wasn't even sure if I had it right, lol
PeacefulnessYesterday at 8:46 PM about the pets despawning code? Yeah, I'm not quite sure either. Take-home message. If the pet's happiness is in red and you ask it to hunt, it might despawn. The more you gamble and the further into the red it goes, the more likely you are to lose your pig.
Ad DeliriumYesterday at 8:46 PM right
PeacefulnessYesterday at 8:47 PM if you move its happiness into "full red", you can take it out as a pet. But if you misclick and ask it to hunt, its not coming back
Ad DeliriumYesterday at 8:47 PM as well it shouldn't
PeacefulnessYesterday at 8:48 PM heehe
Ad DeliriumYesterday at 8:48 PM if you get piggy in full red, you are not being nice to piggy!
PeacefulnessYesterday at 8:48 PM not at all! Very unhappy piggy that needs lots of time to stuff its face and get happy again!

PeacefulnessToday at 1:32 AM "each pig may discover a different type of clay" we're still figuring out what "different type of clay" means. It seems that the raeli colors are governed by where the clay is, and not necessarily what kind of pig finds it
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:32 AM ahh
PeacefulnessToday at 1:32 AM pigs of different breeds have found soft clay patches Very close to one another, so overlapping ovens have been built, and I think they give the same-ish colors
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:33 AM well my first guess was that "may" was that we weren't sure, in which case I was going to suggest just putting may in italics
huh interesting
PeacefulnessToday at 1:34 AM I believe that the concept of different pigs, different clay came from Malard's explanation of how the system works. Finding spots for raeli ovens by using pigs...totally new this tale.
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:34 AM so clays found by different breeds CAN dredge on top of each other, but not same breed? but the clay comes out the same color
ahh
or same-ish, you say
PeacefulnessToday at 1:35 AM almost "on top". a soft clay patch takes up a 1 coord square. An oven looks like it takes up several coordinates, but really only "uses" the 1x1 coord
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:35 AM ah
PeacefulnessToday at 1:37 AM Let's say I've got an oven on clay that was found by an Ikenial pig.
Another player wants an oven with those colors.
an Ikenial will still find the clay that the first oven is on
and may find another clay patch nearby, too
if a second oven is built on that second clay patch, found by the same breed of pig that found the first clay patch....
the second oven will never be able to dredge up clay for tiles, as long as the older oven is still there
If the first oven is torn down, the second oven will work.
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:39 AM k
hmm
PeacefulnessToday at 1:40 AM However, if somebody brings out a windsnyer pig, for instance, and it finds a clay patch nearby
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:40 AM it's no problemo
PeacefulnessToday at 1:40 AM an oven can be built There with no issues at all. The clay was found by a different breed of pig
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:40 AM huh. interesting
PeacefulnessToday at 1:40 AM yes, it is!
so, it sounds like that information needs to be presented clearly
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:43 AM yeah, that's easily confusing, even if you understand it lol
PeacefulnessToday at 1:44 AM well, I better get in game....:) I've got pigs to feed and water!
Ad DeliriumToday at 1:44 AM heheh yeah, mustnt have them busting up the joint
