So to be upfront: I am no fan of the Faction System.
"Apostate Kicks"
In Kush, the policy of the current Elders is to kick any "apostate" level player. At the current state of the game apostate status is gained only by teaching a tech to another faction. More than 12 "alts" have been kicked so far and the prevailing view is that these 12 are only "Technology Spys" created solely for the purpose of obtaining Kush based techs and passing them to non-Kush faction players.
It is unknown what status an "former apostate" has with their potential new faction (2 possible: HY and MW) if they bring in new techs. Is this a major "coup" for the player or if it has no status value in the system
- It would be entirely within the PVP/RVR concept to have a "spy" become the "hero" for gaining valuable information from the other team.
The method of 'finding' these offending players is to scan and data mine the "regional reporter" tab to watch for promotions and demotions. Then a quick /info on the demoted players name to check their account status and if active then they are summarily kicked.
"Promotion and Opt-Out"
Assisting in any activity that gives the message "you have helped your faction" will add n-points to an invisible bucket. Once you hit the "promotion threshold" you will be promoted even if you are not "participating" in the faction game. Donating directly to a technology will add points. Passing tests or initiations gives faction points.
The only way to get "un promoted" is to not do anything that grants faction points until the next "faction report card" is published and you will be marked as "demoted" provided you are already on the threshold for status change.
You can opt-out of the promotion cycle at the Faction Great Hall. Your status will remain whatever it is at the time you opt-out and the points bucket will be frozen in the current status. No activities that grant faction points will be applied.
