T8 Carving and Knife System Change

July 2018: An entire new carving and knife system was introduced. Knives have new names and capabilities and some knives can be sharpened.

Knives must now be equipped (or "wielded") for use. A tool belt to allow you to carry various tools, though not yet implemented, will eventually be craftable .

Self->Equipment

You must equip a knife to use it. Doing so will remove the knife from your inventory and place it in your hand (silly graphic included), freeing up inventory space. The menu option to unequip the knife returns the knife to your inventory.

This system is actively under development and refinement. As such, some options are not currently in working order.

Degrees of the Carving skill are now available at different player levels than before. The new levels and tuitions are as follows:

Timer: Focus

Each degree of Carving allows you to carve certain items, using a knife with quality equal or better than that level. It also allows you to assemble the next level knife (so you can craft the tuition for the next level).

When you carry multiple knifes with you and carve, the highest quality knife is used, and if more than one of that level is carried, the one which has been used the least.

  • A flint knife breaks at the 25th use
  • An iron knife at the 100th
  • A sharp-edged knife at probably about 200-300 uses.

Therefore, always use the lowest level knife needed for the item to be carved and unequip higher level knives.

Level Knife Available Knife Cost Carve
First Knife:Flint
Second Knife:Glass (quality 2)
Third Knife:Iron (quality 3)
Fourth Knife:Sharp Edge (quality 4)
Fifth None
  • Tackle boxes, Wooden Cogs, and wood chips do not exist except in the Carving 5 menu to make them, which you cannot do.
