Story

The scholars at the School of Landscape Studies, University of Natural philosophy are a little perturbed after receiving the following scrawled note:

"To Research Assistant Betsepius of Syracuse. Tanis campus, many greetings. I am wretched with a pernicious fever and am unable to return with the precise location of my most promising dig sites in the Nile Delta. My finds will contribute immensely to our quest for knowledge and need to be recovered. I pass this message to you by the hand of my Apprentice Ranufer the Unready, who has instructions to seek your assistance and then return to me with medical supplies and several porters. Please do not delay, as I fear the return of fever, Dr Alizar, Professor of Archaic Learning."

-625, 7008 Dr Alizar's Dig Site 1.1 This is Dr. Alizar's Dig Site 1. What is this? A loose scatter of old dirty debris. It looks like his Apprentice Ranufer has taken away all the good stuff. I wonder what he left behind? I will leave a message for Dr Alizar at the nearest UNat Phil and investigate a little further. There might be an ancient settlement close by!

393, 7425 Dr Alizar's Dig Site 2.2 More crumbling bits of stone. These ones seem to have some pigment on them. I can see why Dr Alizar is interested in this stuff. Our temples could do with something decorative like this. I might souvenir some of these tools and see what is in the boxes. If I see Betsepius from Syracuse at the local tavern soon I can give the tools to him and let him know about this place ..I know he'd be interested.

1817, 7240 Dr Alizar's Dig Site 3 Dr Alizar is interested in finding evidence of the use of technology used by ancients to support advanced animal husbandry and water management. This jug seems to be proof that the people who made these field boundaries were able to transport water manually. Interesting! This circular thing might be a feeding trough, perhaps for pigs. Is there anything stowed inside you can recover?

2923, 7901 Dr Alizar's Dig Site 3.2 Wild sheep and white rabbits? No farmers around here, and there is an old stone fence and a cookpot just lying here. Either Dr Alizar stopped here for a picnic or the useless Ranufer the Unready has forgotten something, again. The piece of ragged parchment here has an odd inscription. From Ranufer to Betsepius...many bees and wildflowers in this district. Have packed up most of our goods and am heading back to town. Can you bring the rest?
