Grapes are harvested from Vineyards. Grapes are given a unique name, the player which harvests the vines followed by a sequential number starting at #1.
Information about the grapes can be seen by clicking on the Grapes entry in your inventory, a sample report being:
PlayerName #1234: A bunch of <qty> grapes, which were grown 1 days 2 hours 34 minutes 56 seconds ago at <Region> 1234 -5678: Quality: ## Sugar: ## Skin: ## Color: ## Acid: ## Hue: <color> The grapes will remain fresh for 1 day
Every batch of grapes will indicate how long ago they were picked, and how long they have left until they go bad for you. Grapes go bad after a period of time, whether in your inventory, in a storage container, or an open barrel. For most citizens, this will be 1 day (24 hours), however the fourth row of the Vintner Skill is Fresher Grapes - Grapes stay fresher for you longer. A player with this skill can use grapes for up to 3 days (72 hours) after picking. This is regardless of who picks the grapes. This means grapes can say "The grapes have spoiled" to a player without the talent skill, whilst a player with the talent skill be told "The grapes will remain fresh for 1 day" for the same grapes.
Uses
Placed in a Wine Barrel and used to produce Wine.
If there is just one old grape in a barrel, attempting to Crush the Grapes and Seal the Barrel will result in a popup There are some old grapes in the barrel which have spoiled.. There is no indication of the age of grapes that have been put into a barrel.
