* Make a warehouse to hold your supplies and get ready for prospecting.  200 [[Prospecting_Kit| Prospecting Kits]] + Focus food lunches + materials for several small, medium and large mining camps + Supply of many different citrus fruits + Supply of the different metal bars + Supply of different cooking ingredients.  Now to the why.

* Each calendar month on the 4th day, a new set of food type, metal bar and citrus fruit is required by each region.  Players test with a construction site in each region and populate the Regional Mining Camp Materials List.  (See below)

* Look at the Regional Mining Camp Material List, note how many days are left for that list to be true, see what sets of food type/metal bars/citrus you have (usually your fruit is the main determiner) to see which regions you can build mining camps in for determining the region/s you will prospect in.

* Remember to grab enough mats for several mining camps of each size.  The prospecting information will give you deben amount of metal.  To make wise use of mining camp mats, a good rule of thumb to know which size mining camp to build might be:

** Small mining camp for up to 100ish deben metal.

** Medium mining camp for 101 to 400ish deben metal.

** Large mining camp for 400+ deben metal.

* The smaller the mining camp, the slower it takes for all the metal and cuttable gems to be depleted.  A Large Mining camp on a higher Deben site might take up to a week to deplete.  So a Large Mining camp on a small 100 Deben site would finish quickly but be a waste of mining camp materials.

*WARNING: Be aware that someone could encroach on a small or medium mining camp and build their small mining camp next to yours and so take part of that metal and cuttable gems amount that you first saw when you prospected it. Positioning, like with mines, might prevent others from doing that but most rely on politeness that other players will respect your prospecting work.

* A mining camp receives not just the metal, but also cuttable gems.

* Go to your chosen region with a [[Prospecting_Axe|Prospecting Axe]], Mining Camp materials, corresponding Construction Site materials, Prospecting Kits and Focus Food Lunches.

Prospected Metals

Mining camps produce new varieties of metals, not seen before this tale. For more information on how to prepare to build a mining camp, please refer to the page on prospecting

  • Indonesian Bee Hives should be grown in preparation for doing mining camps since what citrus you have determines the region you can prospect build in. Check Indonesian Bee Hive for more informations.

Mine Camp Output

When placing a mine, prospect to see how much ore is in the deposit. Later, check the output and compare to the original.

Notes

  • Size does matter. Small camps can be built 5 cords apart, medium camps 8 cords apart. So you can build more than one camp on the same deposit, if you keep them smaller size. If you have concerns about someone else building on the deposit you found or want to get the metal out as quickly as possible, might want to build a large camp in the center, or a combination of small and mediums camps on same deposit.

Important

An unexpected increase in amount of output was noticed when building multiple Small Camps on a single deposit. Each of the Small Camps gets a Full Share of the deposit. Medium and Large Camps siphon part of the total deposit between them. Small Camps do not siphon the deposit. Although Small Camps take longer to drain a deposit they will all get their individual full share. If you build 4 small camps on a deposit you can effectively block any claim jumpers from taking any of the deposit and get 4 times the output.

You can build 4 small mining camps on one spot and get 4 times the metal from the spot, if the spot has 200 you get 4x200 but it only works with small camps. This is no bug, I reported that small camps only cut out the spot, but Malard told me its a benefit of small camps and not a bug Qwu
