"Prospecting" is not a number.
(From T9 Wiki)
Training in the discovery of rare earth metals and precious gems. You learn techniques to search for mineral deposits via drilling and excavation.
Uses
Allows the construction and use of Prospecting Axe and Prospecting Kit, which are used to discover metal and gems.
- Prospecting Axe
- 1 Large Crude Handle and 2 Steel on a Crafting Bench
- Prospecting Kit
- 5 Glass Jars
- 10 Silver
- 10 Boards
- 5 Full Water Container
Makes 5 kits in a Chemistry Laboratory. Manufacturing a kit starts a Focus timer.
- Prospecting for Mine Sites
It is highly recommended that players have Focus Food, a Prospecting Axe and Prospecting Kits. While it is possible to prospect without a kit or focus food, prospecting kits and the prospecting axe will make the process easier
When prospecting kits are used, the glass jars are returned, but not the jugs of water used to make the kits. After the kit is used, a prospecting grid will appear similar to Ecology survey kits. Solid grey overlays mean no ore is in the area. Possible ore patches will display as a red grid. Since the red area is not an exact location, the player is advised to prospect around the red area to find the exact location of the ore.
Deposit Types
The following are known deposit types available via prospecting:
- Cinnabar - to make Quicksilver in 8 hrs
- Electrum
- Galena (an ore of Lead)
- Gravel
- Hematite (an ore of Iron)
- Malachite (an ore of Copper)
- Malardium
- Orichalcum - Crawler fuel
