  • Malard: That is difficult to determine quickly

  • Kay: what surprises in T9 were missed?
  • Malard: You all found the Covid easter egg
  • Malard: We were hoping to avoid the Plague this tale

  • Malard: yeah it forced everyone in doors for 12 months
  • Feyth: The exploited (and fixed) bug in the early tale Decathlon that resulted in a player growing large amounts of flax. Was all that flax actually created in the world?
  • Malard: I don't recall the exploit, care to remind me?
  • FoxKids: hey! we hoard stuff because we can.... and sort of need to (i.e. vigil and throne)
  • Feyth: Any thoughts on the players' tendency to diffuse new game mechanics that give us an opportunity to create drama? Is it annoying that we tend to do that, or do you expect it?
  • Malard: it can be frustrating, but it also pushes me to develop stronger game mechanics that are too tempting to not agree a truce on
  • Malard: I attempted twice to create a background territory control meta and you agreed to ignore it, this means its not inherantly fun enough to warrant breaking those truces
  • Ebendra: Many of us are living in areas of the world where there's already some pretty intense interpersonal conflict, and maybe that isn't an aspect we want to reproduce in our leisure...
  • Malard: not sure what this relates too sorry
  • Malard: in relation to factions, they were never mean't as a combatorial, but more strategic power play, think 3 player chess
  • Feyth: Anything you care to reveal about veggie reproduction, as we leave T9 and go into T10?
  • Malard: were any seeds not reproduced in tale 9?
  • Lazybum: is there a way to kill a monkey, or does he always dull the blade?
  • Malard: no, they are made of dull fur
  • Feyth: In discussion about the upcoming Amnesty, I heard people refer to vegetable seed reproduction as "useless information" that is going to change next Tale. Something dull and boring that is always revealed at the end of the Tale because it does not matter any more for the next Tale. Anything you care to reveal about veggie reproduction, as we leave T9 and go into T10?
  • Malard: my original question stands, did you manage to reproduce every seed type?
  • Malard: All seeds are based on ecology
  • Malard: however there is additional constraints
  • Malard: Carrots only grow in the middle third
  • Malard: Onions in the northern third
  • Malard: Cabbage in the center third
  • Malard: Garlic in the west third
  • Malard: leek in the south third
  • Malard: watermelon in the east thirn
  • Malard: by middle i mean vertical third
  • Malard: pepper near sulphurous water
  • Malard: cucumber is based on distance from the nile
  • Malard: and eggplant near a wild mushroom
  • Kay: reproduction: carrions, sulfur generator, papyrus generator, or grow
  • Feyth: the Huge Chests in front of the Great Halls Were those just there to make us crazy? (Best guess, Apophis had a plan which was not fully implemented)
  • Malard: this is Apophis going awol, he had a fun idea, and never told us
  • Feyth: What has pleased you about T9? What has surprised you about the players' responses to the changes you have made?
  • Malard: dailies!
  • Malard: i prototyped a few systems and they are expanded on in t10
  • Malard: more tasks and more varied dynamic tasks
  • Feyth: Question, from a player perspective: Kush players have noticed that new immigrants "always" arrive at a particular CS in their faction, and its not the main one. And it isn't the most inhabited one. Is that an accurate observation? Is there a reason for that, which you are willing to reveal?
  • merek: People might be more interested in region changing if it didn't prevent us from talking to friends in our faction/house.
  • Malard: @Feyth its a bug, report it
  • tehm: there are 3 factions/houses/families, the bulk of the population goes to the center of the map and thus Hyksos, is this not bad for game balance?
  • Malard: i dont think it will matter in t10, we shall see
  • tehm: what did being a Guild of the Stranger (or not) do?
  • Malard: nothing that i can tell and i've removed that 'feature' from the code in t10
  • Kay: won't the obelisk tests be a problem with region take overs?
  • Malard: not in t10
  • Malard: and i'm now out of questions
  • Mehrane: What the heck were the Stranger chests for !?
  • Malard: we dont know
  • tehm: is there any reward for finding every fennec type?
  • Malard: overachiever? but no title, nice idea to add though, maybe one for #ideas
  • Fairy: is there a way to control macro's
  • Malard: ask a non dev
  • Redshift: are there any changes planned for how tests will be opened/released compared to t9?
  • Malard: no major changes to that mechanic, i think the pacing of u progress works well
  • Omegaice: Were there any secrets that nobody, or very few people found?
  • Malard: did you find the stargate?
  • Narkho: what was the peak of players this tale? is there a communcation plan for new tale?
  • Malard: about 350players was the peak, which was better than t8
  • Malard: i am working on more automated communication and more structured communication
  • Mehrane: So does that mean we get to grill Apophis to know ?
  • Malard: best ask him
  • tehm: do you look at the ore map before a tale and reroll if you don't like it?
  • Malard: no
  • cas: so whats the hidden Preorder thing you hinted about?
  • Malard: its hidden
  • Lazybum: is the ui change from t9 to t10 going to be more drastic than it was from t8 to t9? like the new banners top and bottom?
  • Malard: no, its more cleaned up
  • Kasiya: Some textures (like sulph water) used to be far more visible and were chagned to be harder to see (in... oh... t4?). Are you happy with the terrain textures in the new terrain system?

  • merek: It seemed like shops were more popular in T9. Has anything change to enhance that in T10. You mentioned freezers as one thing.
  • Malard: I do plan to make API for shops
  • tehm: why did you decide to remove Mining Camps for T9? And why did you add the new alloy (Electrum)?
  • Malard: to reduce the number of metals with no purpose
  • blondie: ohh, speaking of...this is a t8, though. The Avaris Bird, was there a purpose for that? and a plan for doing something like that in Kush, Mesh...
  • Malard: decorative only, we need models for Meshwesh and Kush to do the same
  • Mehrane: What's the backlog size of tokens in the Great Halls ?
  • Malard: not a clue, i can find out
  • Malard: this for tale 10
  • Malard: new stables
  • Malard: each player makes their own unique stable
  • Malard: you can customise the chariot
  • Malard: new patterns for anvils include horse shoes
  • Malard: these will increase the movement speed of the chariot
  • Malard: but wear out
  • Malard: total movement on chariot will be dictated by time they get to rest
  • Kay: are horses wlid that we catch?\
  • Malard: no, you will be given a horse at a certain point
  • Kasiya: Can we get ponies instead of horses? Or at least... can Telanoc?
  • Malard: no ponies
  • Lazybum: can we make special horse food that makes them go faster
  • Malard: yes this will be event reward food
  • merek: Can we breed horses to get colors or patterns are other attributes?

  • Omegaice: Do we actually ride horses? Or is it just a mechanic that gives us TT?

  • Lazybum: will wheat be changed so there are no "dead" strains
  • Malard: if its in jira then its more possible than not
  • Redshift: are there any dangers to riding it? like crashes or trampling?

  • Shiva: is there a skill that allows you to run longer distances with the horses?

  • cas: Can you harvest when using them?

  • Omegaice: Does it give an increased carry weight?
  • Malard: with bags attached
  • Merril: can we have chariot races?

  • Morendo: Is it powered by a carrot on a stick?

  • Shiva: do the horses or chariot have any kind of inventory to carry stuff for us?

  • Kay: 1 horse only?
  • Malard: yes
  • Narkho: can we ride the horse or only the chariot?

  • Mehrane: Are at least boats slated to gain a speed increase in T10 ?
  • Malard: no plans, but discuss with Zatarg
  • Lazybum: probably a bug but why can my spouse introduce herself as a single person when I spouse log on her but I can't!

  • Narkho: can it go over mountains or any path a human could find? or only flat lands?

  • tehm: I hear you werent a fan of fishing this tale, can you speak further about what you didn't like? what is your vision for it?
