Welcome to the page for e-mote, an Egyptwide chat channel via microphone.

About e-Mote

The purpose will be to provide an open, fundamentally uncensored forum for everyone. If you'd like to be a moderator, please come join the guild (once it's operational....for now, feel free to chat LuluDivine or tehm, or another Elder of The Speakasy guild).

I like to think the channel serves as the ABCD4E:

  • Announcements
  • Banter
  • Coordination
  • Discussion
  • 4 all of Egypt.

"Fundamentally uncensored chat" does not mean everything is allowed. You may get censored if your post:

  1. Contains threats of violence
  2. Displays hateful bigotry
  3. Is Spam (whether ads or otherwise)
  4. Keeps beating a dead horse so repetitively that everyone wants to squelch you, making you functionally indistinguishable from spam
    • In other words, the post is ongoingly repetitive and fails to add anything to a discussion
  • Swearing is acceptable in moderation

Moderation Rules

  • Moderators should post messages to the channel unless they violate rules 1 or 2 above.
  • Violations of types 3 and 4 should still be posted to the channel the first time they occur. However the moderator should also post the channel a public note stating Player's posts are violating (rule x). Should the player continue to violate the rule, violations may be blocked by the moderator.
  • Any time a moderator deletes a post, he or she should post to the channel that a message by Player was deleted for violating (rule x)
    • No private/silent moderating.
  • If the chat heats up, and posts are flying fast and furious - do not slow down the posts on purpose.
  • Moderators are welcome to use an auto-post macro. This is actually encouraged.
  • Do not unexpectedly take over an active callboard. This should be coordinated with the guild or current holder unless the holder is AFK/logged out.
  • When you pick up the callboard, please identify yourself to the channel as the new moderator

Users

If you have any complaints about how moderators are handling the callboard, please contact an elder of The Speakeasy
