Tongs are used in Metal Treatment. They allow the re-use of the Sulfuric Acid required to start the Metal Treatment process in a Chemical Bath.
Sources
Tongs are made in a Forge
Cost
- 18 Nickel : gold plated, stainless, insulative, non toxic, purity 4+.
Cools in 3 minutes.
Uses
- Used to remove items from a Chemical Bath. Without tongs, you can only remove items by emptying the Sulfuric Acid from the bath.
Guide
There is no recipe for this item at the moment as the requirements are quite complicated (and all baths are different in the way they react), but one arsenic-free strategy seems to be:
- Increase the Plating rating and reduce the Corrosion, Conductivity and Toxicity stats in incremental stages using a combination of Coal, Gravel, Saltpeter and Cabbage Juice. This method had very tight timings and back-and-forth with several stats, so experimenting with exactly how many seconds may be necessary instead of doing things in the usual increments of 10.
- Once the Plating attribute is high enough, add at least one second of Salts of Gold so the tank reads Metal Salt: Gold next to the indicator of the metal in the bath. If the other attributes go out of balance, correct with aforementioned ingredients. If all else fails, and your tank just has uncooperative K-values, Arsenic can be helpful near the end of treatment, but as it is pricey it is best avoided if possible
- Once the Plating Attribute reads 'Plated', and the other stats are still in acceptable ranges, you can go ahead and take your treated metal!
