Seed Reproduction
The steps for reproducing an onion seed have not been confirmed at this time. In an effort to expedite the discovery of onion seed reproduction, please edit this section with any information if you are able to do so.
Important things to note: Type of land you were on or near, coordinates, time of day, other factors (near certain types of trees, etc.).
I reproduced over 100 onion seeds in the vicinity of Carrion shrooms. It was north of Tanis, which suggests it may be, as last tale, only in the northern part of Egypt. As some people are deeply annoyed by the suggestion that Carrion shrooms cause the duplication, it should be pointed out that correlation is not causation, Carrion shrooms tend to favor conditions which are also favorable to seed duping. I had to try near several patches of Carrion before managing to get seeds, and when I did they kept multiplying until a while after the shrooms despawned. -Slartibartfast
I reproduced over 100 Tears of Sinai onion seeds in Abydos 1345,3109 (Time : Peret II-10 6.25AM). No Shrooms in the near. -nochadlee

I have had the same experience with Onion Seeds (getting 4 each harvest) on sand near Carrion shrooms, in north Tanis. The effect lasted one game hour after the shrooms despawned. -Anaximandros
I was able to get double seeds from both Amun's Bounty and Tears of Sinai from 6:38pm - 7:08pm in Lahun -1283, 4682. There was no noticeable mushrooms nearby. - Kentego
Update: Tried again but got no extra seeds this time until 7:12pm and has been giving 4 seeds of Tears of Sinai in Lahun -1256, 4683.
I have been harvesting 5 onions and 1 seed in sand @1330, -2097 using Tears of Sinai. There is no pollution at this location (my cp). Euripedus
I have been consistently getting 4 onion and 4 onion seeds from planting Tears of Sinai at 4276, 7319 in East Sinai. I don't see any mushrooms nearby, and I have been able to do this at multiple times in the day. So far I've gathered at 9-10AM and 7-8PM. This location is a sandy spot alongside the river north of Tell Ed Daba. -ignotuscaligo
During Peret-I 24-26 at both afternoon and early morning times, we have received 2 seeds per Amun's Bounty and 4 seeds per Tears of Sinai when planting in the sands around our compound (-357, 2646 and -359, 2594, Kharga Oasis). Area is prone to Dead Tongue mushrooms and was only recently settled by us (this telling), as of the given date. Recent Flax pollution around compounds was prohibitive for growing them in sands closest to them. -Ebendra
Pollution
An unknown number of factors can cause seeds to fail to grow. The original seed is returned.
- Tested the area for Heavy Metal using Ecology 1 and 2,000 tadpole returned no results
