This building becomes available after you have learned the Metallurgy tech.
Compare all Furnaces.
Cost
- 100 Clay
- 3 Crucible
- 200 Firebricks
- 5 Iron Bars
Use
- Smelt any ore to produce metal. For example:
- Smelt Copper Ore to produce Copper
- Smelt Iron Ore to produce Iron
- Smelt Tin Ore to produce Tin
- Smelt Lead Ore to produce Lead
Uses Charcoal for fuel.
Operation
- Holds up to 500 ore
- Holds up to 20 Charcoal
- Burns 1 Charcoal per minute for a maximum of 20 minutes
- The theoretical time to generate one metal appears to be 40000 / ore amount. The actual time is modified by rounding. (See the discussion page for more details.)

Note: the 200 ore/18 charcoal was performed by opening the furnace at about 18:15 into the process recovering left over charcoal and metal.
