Amnesty/Tale 6
From A Wiki in the Desert
- Pluribus: Pluribus Here. I have just sent out one last reminder to the mailing list that we are in the last few hours of Tale 6. I will run final passings in about 3 hours. and hold amnesty shortly afterwards...
- Pluribus: The servers will remain alive until Noon Central on September 8. After that point no preorders will be possible.
- Pluribus: Bitcoin payments are now possible. Your balance will not show until there are 3 confirmations and at this point you must either already have a cash credit to cover the difference or pay the entire amount with bitcoins.
- Pluribus: The price will be held for 6 hours, but average time so far is about 30 minutes to get the required confirmations.
- Pluribus: if anyone has anythig they want to get off their chest on amnesty please drop me a line and I will slot you in :-) Remember all, Amnesty means no holding a grudge, just have fun with it.
- Pluribus: maybe our own unibomber(s) will come forward :-)
- Sheba: HA! I am doubting that <grin> Must have been the stranger here :)
- Pluribus: I know who he/she/they are :-) I just wont out him/her/them without them coming forward :-)
- Pluribus: Bitcoin folks. I believe that there is an issue in my code that does the confirmation checks, it is waiting for 6 confirmations... (I need to wait for the close of preorders to fix it though so patience is needed before it show in your account information)
- jemgirl: hey to any old friends out there
- Pluribus: Welcome everyone.... And thank you for being with me to see the end of the longest Telling in the history of ATITD...
- Pluribus: There is now a Navigation Waypoint to Amnesty. You can now travel there for free for the end of telling party.
- Pluribus: I just want to congratulate Egypt on completing all 7 tests in the nick of time.
- Pluribus: Ok all I tried to talk at the party, there are more people people than have shown at any previous telling... Thank you all for the wonderful time.
- LehmanHotep: Thanks for revitalizing the game that more people care than any previous telling!
- Odis: Any big mechanic changes for t7 planned? corssbreeding? cooking? incense? etc?
- Pluribus: Odis: That would be telling :-)
- GHawkins: Thank goodness for Teppytime or we wouldn't have made it.
- Malard: Do you plan on making all the compound types available again, generally?
- Silden: Is it worth us investigating whether we players have any influence in mushroom/herb spawns or is that just a myth? Because if players can influence it, it hasn't been very much explored in 6 tales
- Pluribus: Malard: If I can find the old artwork, then I would bring them back... Alas, they seem to lost at them moment...
- Pluribus: Silden: There are things that the players do that can influence some of the mushroom spawns
- Valin: so kalmkitty doesnt care for amnesty
- Odis: Can you at least find the old guild halls, chests, and watermines?
- Pluribus: LOL, Maybe...
- LehmanHotep: What were the seed methods this telling? I believe unknown ones were carrot, eggplant, and pepper.
- Pluribus: Let me look them up (Please dont harass me about how evil and stupid they are :-) )
- Pluribus: Carrots required the grower to have a last mined workloadsize of > 1000, it would then produce a seed.
- Pluribus: Eggplant required (Please dont kill me :-( ) It required 3 level 1 people to be growing egplants together.
- Kalmkitty: do i have to tolerate being called vulgar names?
- Pluribus: you could always try banning them as DP... You already have set precident
- Pluribus: :q
- Hetepheres: who dares such a thing KK!
- Silden: If this wasn't Amnesty, the knives would have been out already :)
- Balthazarr: ~*~*~ We just passed 400 early immigrants to A Tale in the Desert VII. It is still not too late to Pre-Order for T7. Multi-Month Package Discounts and Start Up Swag comes with your Pre-Order. Self (esc)... Utility... Billing... Store... Package Information (to see what each package offers)... or Multi-Month Packages and Merchandise (to place your order) Best of luck, and please join us all in T7. Thank you. :-)
- Malard: how much artwork is missing?
- Pluribus: Malard: ALL of the new artwork from after the T3 player gathering....
- Pluribus: until the latest new stuff for the newest tests
- Valin: amnesty doesnt stop the wrath of KK
- Yendor: I'd say the oppoisite actually. If it weren't amenstly, banning a bomber would have been far less controvertial
- Veritas: Plurbis: Can I pay you money for a button to mute the logon screen music?
- Silden: I believe Apophis has something to explain with Carrots, he led us to believe "The secret to carrots lies with other vegetables". Mining isn't other vegetables :(
- Yendor: Money? Does that mena we can buy cats and otters and monkeys?
- Tunnen: Does the genome affect the type/frequency of weeds in Wheat?
- Peacefulness: Veritas: will resizing your screen take care of it?
- TheMazeEcho: just maximize the game window when the screen comes up
- Pluribus: Yendor: Not initially, the store is being rewritten because the current one is horrid
- Pluribus: Tunnen: it can :-)
- Pluribus: Peacefullness: It will :-)
- Veritas: Yes, but its annoying to have to wait until the music starts to resize it. Its a hassle that should not be there, we should have an option for it imo.
- Hetepheres: hit the mute button on your keyboard.
- Sabuli: Veritas...just maximize the window. the music will stop
- toothless: yep i expand it and it mute the sound
- tamb: WIth regards to the ban: May we please drop the subject? What is done is done. Let's not ruin the end of tale celebration for all Egypt by continuiong to argue over what could or should have been done please.
- LehmanHotep: Does dropping clinker on the ground do anything to ecology? There has been so much superstition over it back and forth through the years that it would be great to settle it.
- toothless: what about the other vegies? pepper melon
- Tunnen: As a follow up, (Didn't see an answer on the wiki and it'd been 3 years since I last tried) but what was the trick to grow Romani? I tried sever things and almost ran out of seeds.
- Silden: +1 on the muting of music on the login screen.
- Pluribus: There cant be per person prefernces when there is no person logged in...
- tehm: does the Tadpole ecology test that tells you if there are heavy metals around tell you anything about ore veins, or is it purely about pollution?
- Pluribus: Only pollution
- LehmanHotep: toothless: I believe watermelon was do a bridge cut
- Pluribus: Lehman was correct on the watermellon seeds
- Rekhetre: I know I'm weird, but I love the login music, both for T6 & T7
- TheMazeEcho: Since it's Amnesty, I have to confess one thing: the ribbons I've handed out aren't for the USA flag, bit for the French one, ty all for wearing them :)
- Silden: Can it be a client preference for the login screen instead?
- Pluribus: The client doesnt have support for persistent client preferences.
- Maxion: i love the music too, but it's way too loud
- toothless: lol i thought it was the russia XD
- Rekhetre: Yay TheMazeEcho! The French flag is so pretty!
- Tamutnefret: I thought they were for the Australian flag! I've been lied to!
- Hetepheres: <3 france woooo
- Honasha: lol
- KebiRoz: ty, Rekhetre, i'm with you :)
- Tunnen: Isn't the French flag all white? (I'm kidding =P)
- Augir: O.O french?.....
- Telanoc: I think we shouldn't get bogged down in music. We should concentrate on the things about the last telling we want answered
- Silden: Request #1 for Tale 8 then :D
- Tamutnefret: Can we have a command-line option for login music then :-)
- Pluribus: Use -nosound then :-)
- Hetepheres: vivre la france :P
- Feyth: Oh i thought it was australia
- Xasis: They were of course the Union Jack
- Yendor: Kudos to the event NPC (SHPU?) in charge of the Zircon tradein for great role-play!
- toothless: but i still prefer it to consider it the bleu blanc rouge of the habs lol
- Hetepheres: would that just stop login sound or all game sound though?
- Pluribus: It turns off audio
- tehm: Hey Plur, can you tell us - what has been broken all tale (I heard rumors of fishing- true? anything else?) and will it be fixed for next tale?
- Pluribus: Hmm, Broken all telling... 1) I though that the lower levels of flyfishing where VERY evil... What WAS broken was that the some of the insects were WAY too rare...
- Pluribus: Peppers... Each Player had a secret veggies that if they grew right before the peppers caused an extra seed.
- blondie: well, filleting skill and fly tying were crazy expensive skills ;p
- Veritas: Pluribus: What was your biggest challenge in T6?
- Pluribus: Hmm Good question, there were a lot of challenges... from a code perspective, I would have to say getting the billing integrated into a system that I had to deal with a lot of obsolete code
- Pluribus: But really it was figuring out the state of things since there are lots things that have changed
- Ashtarii: what was method for pepper seeds ?
- Sabuli: Pluribus , you said carrots and eggplant. I think you missed pepper
- Telanoc: Filleting was meant to be expensive, in Teppy's words, a "vanity skill"
- Sabuli: Then what Apophis said about carrots was really about peppers... Perhaps he had a lapsus :)
- Catote: When planting papy, some areas are completely "dead". Is that because papy goes (i) inland or (ii) papy does not appear at all?
- Pluribus: No, the generators are placed at server startup... If it cant find a place along the nile it skips it.... another cause would be post live landscaping
- Ashtarii: When you mentioned player ponies earlier in response to the grandfather chest question.. I am assuming that means it is something players have wanted, but probably won't ever get ?
- Pluribus: Yes. There is no easy (or even moderately painful) way to export player built objects reliable... Plus the impact on world economy would be horid.
- Maxion: he said pepper was each person had a random veggie they needed to grow before the pepper
- Sheba: I want to thank the wonderful player who told me that 1) Using a speed hack was legal <almost got banned behind it> and 2) told me that if we are Sage or above.. we can keep everything in our CP...
- Pluribus: LOL Remember not all of your fellow Egyptians are trustworthy...
- toothless: i wonder as i have done all the extra step to get extra seed for these and i have not gotten any , did it need to be done right after and not triggered like onion ?
- blondie: vanity? pah!
- tehm: Plur - what's the deal with the timestamps atm. For example my friends list says someone last logged in 1372 days ago, that's longer than the tale, isn't it? Had a similar issue with a couple guild chat time stamps
- Pluribus: Tehm, The world was started 1374 days ago...
- Veritas: Plurbis: What feature are you most excited for in T7?
- Pluribus: I have to say that I am most excited about all the new tests coming back. (I loved opticon and the Test of Trust V2.... is actually test worthly)... from basic features, I Personally LOVE the new music and the SORTABLE chat folders
- Telanoc: 102 people logged in for Amnesty :)
- tehm: wooooowwww
- Balthazarr: If anyone was wondering, there have been a flurry of Bureau Passes recently. . . Well I set out to "buy" 3 bureaus to be run as solos, to initiate passes and something amazing happened. . . people asked me what I was doing and a wonderful large group of them Independently elected to use their own materials to build and run solo bureaus so that we could have some end of tale passes. Thank you to all of the generous end of tale solo bureau runners. :-)
- TheMazeEcho: Again, congrats to gypt for achieveing the 7 Monuments, and to Pluribus to allow us to have a new Telling. I'm off to bed, cya all in T7 :)
- mattphat: Are there any plans to bring back the storyline with the bad elements of the stranger (clearcutting, ability to make sulpherous lakes, other mischief able to be done by players)?
- Pluribus: Mattphat, if you havent noticed there have been more stranger sitings in the last year than T1 :-)
- Maxion: nice balth
- Ashtarii: in regards to bugs/fishing.. has that been smoothed out ? and how about fishing from boats ? thought i saw mention of that on the wiki as being in the works ?
- Pluribus: I have smoothed out a lot of the fishing issues it may still need more tuning...
- Yendor: This is more of a T7 question than amensty question, but how will it work with 7 stats but more than 7 body tests?
- Pluribus: Well play and find out :-)
- Donk: Since the new tale is number 7 (special number for ATITD), will you implement anything special referring to this fact?
- Pluribus: LOL, All the past tests, first new music since 2003.... lots of things planned going nuts coding it all
- Maxion: some stats will be increased by multiple tests
- toothless: anything we did not figure out this tale ?
- tehm: In a note about T7 earlier in the tale, I read you mentioned Sheep Pox may be back-ok. It also mentioned you wanted to add Stone Hatchets - any news on that? Haven't seen those in beta yet
- Pluribus: Stone hachets... Hadnt remembered that one... may be interestesting...
- LehmanHotep: If there are enough non-veto-worthy petitions, how often do you target running elections? I notice much of the law carryover seems to have been cleaned up for T7 beta, so there will likely be a want people want to pass.
- merek: How many cicada cages exist in the world?
- Pluribus: 425
- Kyline: Hey Balthazarr I honestly had no idea that my bureau opp that i wasn't using was actualy costing people passes. Was very happy to use it when that was explained to me.
- jemgirl: I would like to wish Pluribus good luck in his new venture and it was great seeing you all. I will probably come in over christmas holidays and will see after that. It was great seeing all my old friends and have missed you
- tehm: for Pluribus on an article mentioning stone hatchets: http://massivelyop.com/2015/05/13/a-tale-in-the-desert-preparing-to-restart-with-tale-7/
- toothless: woah
- Coyan: be well Jemgirl :)
- LehmanHotep: *will likely be a lot people want to pass
- Morrigan: Is mining going to change?
- Markanthony: plur, i have a request. ore stones....is there anyway you can stpp them from spreading out so far apart?
- Pluribus: then they stack on each other
- Donk: or have you?
- Catote: We want tons of new players to sign up. Will you add a test some some other mechanism, where we *benefit* just a little bit from mentoring new players (not those silly newbie tokens from T4, they didnt work)?
- Pluribus: Hmm, That is a discussion for not here... (would take too long, but worth a discussion)
- Odis: we have mines up in beta. they are the same
- Tamutnefret: Do you know if there were any big events orignally planned for T6 along the scale of T3's plague?
- Pluribus: we have some ideas for events, However, I am not a big fan of events where people are diseased and the cure isnt coded and the dev who wrote the event goes MIA for 2 months... NOT COOL
- Coyotl: Ugh. Don't remind him of the plague.
- Rania: NO Plaque plasea
- Tunnen: Was the question about dropping clinker causing pollution answered?
- Pluribus: No :-)
- toothless: maybe a plague that kill livestock but not player
- Pluribus: Livestock die of a lot of things... maybe you should care for your animals....
- LehmanHotep: From what I've seen in T7 beta so far, I suspect players will be a lot more motivated to research ecology patterns
- Morrigan: yes please no plague
- toothless: that would be a good tradeoff
- tehm: any chance of making watermelon, eggplant and/or peppers available sooner in the tale? never understood why the delay for those.
- Pluribus: Watermelon, eggplant and peppers were alway meant as event seeds...
- merek: Any chance we can use Citrus fruit in cooking in T7?
- LehmanHotep: Are there any plans for a promotion at launch to attract completely new players? I recall one telling there were codes given to a MMO news site that would grant players pepper seeds or something like that
- Maxion: just need more events then :)
- Coyotl: Tale 2 had watermelon seeds for people who subscribed through a Penny Arcade ad.
- Malard: i dont know if anyone knew this, but burning man is on today, perfect timing for our festival
- toothless: yeah the phoenix event would be interesting early on
- blondie: oh what about more cartouche events for all of egypt ? those are kind of nice and not as difficult as going through cartouche rounds.
- Malard: i got loads from t4 (but i did game that system if anyone remembers) i got some of the high end rewards from teppy, one was an ancient map that revealed the ore map in an area
- Coyotl: Burning Man is plagued with insects this year.
- merek: For several tales the pattern of minerals/ores has been the same, e.g. zinc+lead together. Is that set, or will things like that change?
- Honasha: So itching man?
- Telanoc: All those hippies need to take a bath anyway :)
- Yendor: I liked the events, particularly the ones that let me build cartouches
- merek: Also the various types of flowers other than sea lillies.
- Hetepheres: Pluribus have you considered steam distribution?
- Pluribus: Yes, I have, but I cant even consder it until I have enough resource to actually try and do a greenliht campaign... They take an average of 30% of revenue so I have to make sure the game is on good footing before I think about giving someone 30% of revenue for the priviledge of showing ad
- blondie: you could bring back the find the sandbloom in the odd weeds. It was fun finding that in the desert.
- Malard: yeah i was thinking steam would be worthwhile
- Feyth: steam is bad they take 1/3 of subscriptions
- Sheba: would the real unibomber please come forward :)
- Veritas: Pluribus: What would be cool would be cosmetic rewards for consecutive months subscribed.
- Pluribus: Lots of things are cool, most arent free :-) Artwork is expensive when you dont have art slaves ... er interns :-)
- merek: Any chance of bringing back the GH upgrades/deco? Do we need new art for that?
- toothless: or for cosmetic reward allow us to build big phoenix from the small one , but only as reward from arch
- Malard: i dont know about anyone else, but to me, decorating my camp is a big thing, i obviously see it all over the map. i realise you do the camp deco offer for the pre-order but as extra revenue i would happily pay for more or for specific token items i can place around my camp
- Morrigan: oh and more different clothing please please
- Augir: will we have ability to purchase pets soon?
- Feyth: like every three months a flower bulb?
- mattphat: Would it be possible for you to reveal the ore vein map for this tale?
- Malard: i am just thinking that charging for some camp deco items would help fund additional art
- Feyth: Yes If you are a 3d modeler please chat me I ahve some idea to spit ball and id like some input
- tehm: is there a correlation between Carrot production waves and rabbits coming to eat your dropped carrots?
- Pluribus: no
- Veritas: Pluribus: What about something like a kickstarter campaign for additional art resources for the game like Compound styles, avatars etc
- NanuTari: I would pay extra for different Hair PLEASE!!
- tehm: Plur, what will you be celebrating most in the next week, and how will you celebrate it?
- Pluribus: LOL, not much the celbrations happy AFTER the first week of live :-)
- Pluribus: When I can take a single day off and sleep
- LehmanHotep: As someone who has done one, managing a proper kickstarter campaign is a full-time job for the entire duration, not even counting prep
- Hetepheres: i studied computer animation/modeling in college for a bit :P
- Tunnen: Pluribus, any other helpful hints that you would like to give to the few people crazy enough to play with the wheat genome? =P
- Kalmkitty: lol
- Rania: oh me too we need T3 choices
- Coyotl: I'd be happy to see the level system set on fire and tossed down a mineshaft.
- Silden: There are talented artists out here, some of which might like to create some artwork for the game. Have you considered running a competition for someone to draw up (no pun intended) some artwork?
- Morrigan: just to have the choices back that we USED to have would be great
- Odis: I know legacy avatars aren't "in" for the public because of tattoos. But I can bet you 5 chits that if you polled everyone with that knowedge in hand they would gladly take up one of the older (and better) avatars who can't show tattoos for the test. Personally, I think the tattoos are ugly anyways.
- Hetepheres: +1 silden
- Veritas: Sliden has a good idea, give people the template or format and have the community do the work for you on the art.
- Pluribus: Silden: Very good idea... when I get a few days to think and not be fixing broken things I would be a happy man
- LehmanHotep: I would absolutely love new ore patterns, especially as that's something that has to be done right from the start before anybody's dowsing
- Alexa: and take all the fun out of finding the ore veins?
- Donk: Pluribus, did Teppy state any conditions regarding ending or amnesty of T6 when you took over? Or any wishes for T7 that you're supposed to follow up on? And/or will you (or have you) place(d) some kind of statue/site/rememberance/reference to Teppy in T7?
- Pluribus: No, although he does want to say hellp at the beginning of T7...
- Pluribus: hello
- Hetepheres: i'd like some ore finding lessons if anyone is willing :P
- Yendor: I'd love to have an avatar with no tattoos. But it's a moot point since getting tattoos requires getting herbs which requires leaving camp
- Rekhetre: Oh but tattoos are one of the most fun parts of this game :)
- Sabuli: This is a silly question... I think that tagging 7 critters of each kind in safari should be an achievement. I felt very frustrated when i discovered it wasn't :)
- LehmanHotep: Are there any game systems you feel have a lot of depth to them yet were not very deeply explored by players in T6?
- Pluribus: Most people ignore the ecology, some people have seen some correlation
- tehm: Any chance of changing the Chat functions so up and down don't go to the last message... or if they do, it saves your current text first so you can press the opposite direction and go back?
- Pluribus: Have you tried T7?
- Odis: you can still GET the tatoos, they just dont show
- tehm: yes I have. I am recalling it still scrolls?
- Pluribus: Hmm, I thought it saved the current line...
- Pluribus: If it doesnt, I will ask Zatarg (my UI guru)
- tamb: not when I tried it Plur
- blondie: i never actually place the tattoos, i like finding the herbs and finishing the tattoo lists
- tehm: cool thank you!
- Sheba: It does :) Much better chat in T7 :)
- blondie: who tags the most ibis, mmm! :D
- Zomboe: Are there any "unintended" player behaviors that you've observed over the years that you want to try to curb or change in T7?
- Pluribus: I think the majority of the "unintended" behaviors is partially my fault... and that is people not using the petition system when they should.... Other peeves of mine...
- Pluribus: 60 foot arms...
- Pluribus: unlimit storage on devices that you dont have to tend.
- merek: Chronic hamboning. ;)
- Yendor: Petitions? I thought player behavoir was dealt with solely through DP bans / threats of bans?
- Pluribus: LOL, Laws are meant to restrict player behavior. (people cant build here... you must nick trees after getting resin etc...)
- LehmanHotep: It would have driven me nuts to have flax tending changed so drastically mid-tale, but I'm actually finding the changes in t7 from the start to feel right combined with the new starter flaxes
- Peacefulness: laws are intended to govern player behavior
- merek: There have been laws for nicking trees when you take resin, and forced player name changes that were laws.
- Odis: Like guild halls that say when you expand them "you can now store X number of items" but they still take 99 trillion bricks and boards?
- Odis: if we went back to the old gh art though, I can see unlimited storage on the max deco'd halls though. suckers were pretty :)
- agrajag: are there any particular 60 foot arm issues that you're going to be tackling soon? Will you require being at a machine to take or stash?
- Pluribus: I have changed that on a few things... I have probably missed quite a few ... (I wont change it after the buildings are avaialble though... since it is unfair to the players)
- Ashtarii: will there be any changes to 'smithing mechanic ? maybe additonal tools that can be crafted ?
- Pluribus: I actually would like to add more things to be smithed. It only got minor changes... (Changed to use flyaways rather than requiring chat changes) and a few other niceities
- tehm: some folks have commented they felt there is more server lag tending veggies in T7 beta. Is that due to additional logging going on? will it go away come live?
- Pluribus: Interesting, server game simulation lag is running at 70% of T6 with 10x the player counts....
- tamb: ANy possibilities we can get a trade window that can handle multiple items at some point, rather than the one item at a time busienss we have now
- Pluribus: Dont people use the trading booths anymore?
- Pluribus: that said, I havent looked at them, are there issues with them/
- Ashtarii: would be awesome to have more added =] looking forward to that being a reality.. and i've noticed the same hestitation with veggie tendings
- merek: Maybe the perceived lag in T7 veggie growing is due to the short duration at each growing stage?
- Pluribus: That very will could be.... They are currently 2/3 the time of T6 veggies
- Malard: i was wondering, if i could find an old t3/t4 client will that help with restoring lost artwork?
- Pluribus: No since it isnt the exported cal3d models that are needed, I need the original photoshop and 3ds max files
- blondie: i've not seen people use trading booths much, but they are purdy
- Morrigan: I don't think people ever used the trading booths
- tamb: hmm I didn't know those were available
- Alexa: didn't know trading booths existed
- LehmanHotep: One tiny little thing - could there be an option to turn off "it's too steep" messages entirely rather than diverting them to main? It almost makes the lighting up of the main tab useless.
- Pluribus: Technically it would turn off all of the console message notifications... The support calls from people who turn it would be monumental :-)
- LehmanHotep: Or if it's technically easier a way to split "local chat" from "system messages" would be super nice too. More than once I've snubbed someone asking me to acro just because I ignored the red tab out of habit
- Tunnen: Pluribus, are the weeds in wheat all considered the same? Or are they all seperate? Like is it possible to make affect the frequency of one type of weed over another or do they all just change as a whole? (I promise that's the last question on wheat =P)
- Pluribus: There are different weeds...
- Pluribus: Lehman, None easy... I will look deeper but no promises on that one
- Feyth: Are there any chances the original team has copies of those models?
- Pluribus: LOL, I wish, it was stored on a central server that had a failed drive for a year when the second one failed...
- Pluribus: I hapened to have a copy of a lot of it, but there is a ton missing
- Yendor: *boggle*
- Malard: what would it cost to get the drives professionally recovered?
- Pluribus: I believe Teppy tried... thy told him no dice.
- Feyth: Well... as an artists myself i keep copies on file on all projects i work on
- toothless: there got to be a way to get the data back , they can even reconstruct destroyed hdd
- Feyth: problem is that when you have multiple drive failure in a raid 5 only some of the data would be recoverable and usually corrupted
- LehmanHotep: Last options question, I promise: Might it be practical to raise the max on the client-side "number of objects" setting? Some computers can handle it without breaking a sweat, and it would nice to be in a big public works without half the stuff disappearing as you spin your camera
- Pluribus: Actually tried that :-).... Apprently hadnt found the right place :-)
- Malard: why do you need the original files, can you not just reuse the cal3d files blindly?
- LehmanHotep: Thank you! I appreciate having an active developer who cares about the game and I'm really looking forward to T7!
- Malard: are you able to comment on the workings of water mines?
- Yendor: Three cheers for Pluribus!!
- Pluribus: Malard, what about them?
- Feyth: If we could find a good 3d modeler to help you could use them as an image that can be extrapolated into a new model but it wouldnt be complete there is more work needed to make it work correctly
- nyla: Agreed!!
- Pluribus: Feyth and god help if it also needs to be rigged and animated :-)
- Malard: to get the lost assets in game, can you not just use the ega files if they can be located?
- Pluribus: There are several issues... 1) Without the resource names, the EGA files are useless (The names were part of the art repository)
- LehmanHotep: I think the big ongoing mystery about water mines is what pitch does, but nobody's ever cared enough to gather the hundreds of hours of data it would take to tell for sure
- Pluribus: It does have an effect and is location specific
- toothless: yeah the pitch is a mystery
- Veritas: Pluribus: When can we buy cats for T7?
- Telanoc: I guess that will give you something to do for Tale 7 ;)
- brucette: I wouldn't call 10 years an "ongoing mystery". Oh, wait, yes I would!
- Pluribus: Veritas, yes, jsut not day 1.
- Yendor: Was anyone other than Lazybum involved in blowing things up?
- Pluribus: Well I know that I personally placed a charge... (but didnt fuse or arm it :-) ) I know that aleast one other was actually blowing up things :-)
- Donk: gotta go to bed, but don't wanna do that without saying Thanks Pluribus and maybe see you (and anyone else) on the Other Side! Take care!
- tehm: Could you publish a list of all discovered achievements from this tale? would be cool to have a record
- Pluribus: Hmm, gotta see if I can :-)
- Sheba: It was me y'all ... I am sooo sorry for everything...
- LehmanHotep: How many of the rarest crop-dwelling insect was found total across all of T6 combined? Or if that's not possible, how many of it currently exist?
- Pluribus: No idea of the total for the game, let me see how man in the world
- Sheba: I was LB's cohort....
- Malard: NSFW at the 2009 player meet, I was chatting to teppy with a couple of other people, a long time ago teppy was dealing with a female player who was disgruntled (the specifics i dont remember) but as payback, he commissioned an emote for the female avatar to perform a blowjob, one day she was running in the desert and he triggered it, i dont know if it was just a joke, really happened and/or if the artwork ever got made. do you know of any truth in that?
- Pluribus: Ok, some secrets are meant to stay that way....
- Yendor: There was such an emote, but it can not be invoked except by GMs
- Pluribus: No comment... (although the GMs do not have the ability to trigger non-menu emotes... and that isnt on any menu)
- Pluribus: (That statement should not be construed as a confirmation or denial of its existence.)
- Malard: this is amnesty so i felt now was the time to mention it if ever
- agrajag: I'll totally construe that as confirmation of it's existence, thanks! :D
- Ashtarii: one more thing i am curious about,... are there going to be any major changes to grape growing/winemaking ?
- Ashtarii: i think my question about grapes got lost in the woods....
- Pluribus: That one?
- Pluribus: I will not comment on things for T7
- Pluribus: this is T6 amnesty
- Ashtarii: yah..lol
- tehm: are there any big changes for Raelis we should expect for T7? Or small ones?
- Pluribus: See the above statement about no comments on things for T7
- Feyth: Did you or did you not have Sexual relations with Monica lewinski?
- toothless: lol
- Pluribus: Um no...
- Malard: has there ever been plans to do something with "large stones"
- Pluribus: Well you get stone chips :-)
- Pluribus: and yes there is now a use for them :-)
- tehm: Are the level requirements for various Tests & Initiations that we currently see in T7 beta likely to stay where they are now?
- Pluribus: I wont comment on T7 :-)
- brucette: read my lips, I did not have sexual relations what that woman!
- Ashtarii: alrighty.. off to get some chores done.. looking forward to T7
- toothless: and was it ever found out who killed the tax collector ?
- toothless: what are stone chip used for ?
- Pluribus: That would be telling....
- Morendo: I think a previous answer on Insects got derailed by.... emotes. :)
- Pluribus: First let me say, that apparently I need to post every single message without spending time to respond to things and read them... Here is the entirety of all my unposted messages...
- Zohar: Remove the message and just let people hurt themselves. ;-)
- merek: Who are the current title holders of Pharaoh's Acrobat and Pharaoh's Angler?
- tehm: It looks like there have been 10 Laws passed in all of T6. Only 4 have been implemented. Are we proposing ballots that are too complex to implement? What guidance can you provide on ensuring the laws we want are something that can reasonably be coded?
- blondie: who has logged the most hours in game ? i guess maybe it doesn't count since some people stay afk for long periods of time, hehe
- mattphat: aside from speedhacking has there been any other
- Saledo: Going back to earlier in tale, can you tell us who GeoDudes main was? ;)
- Morrigan: so who smoked the most herbs this tale?
- LehmanHotep: Was it technically possible to brew date beer in T6? From the yeasts available it seems like no, but there may be some factors not understood
- Malard: ....in tale 6
- Mebala: I just got on a bit ago, but I have the "peppers grew a seed" acheivement and never could figure out how it was done, can you tell us now?
- Malard: and has there ever been plans to do anything with pharaohs court at 2463, 2349 it's been there since t1 and i dont believe its been used
- Telanoc: What, stone chips weren't a use?!?
- Sheba: what's up with the dead bodies in teh desert?
- merek: Who are the current Pharaoh's Acrobat and Pharaoh's Angler?
- Malard: did my message get lost on pharoah's court?
- tehm: someone asked about new smithable tools, how about a quality limestone chisel?
- brucette: clearly they are used for.... $*()@(&*$&%. Oh, it got auto censored!
- Telanoc: You never found who killed the tax collector?
- toothless: yeah how many rare insect
- Veritas: Pluribus: Did the use of steam-based equipment turn out as expected in T6 or do you think there is room for improvement/changes?
- Aubery: Id like to say Thank you for saving our game Very much apreciated :)
- Yendor: Yet three *more* cheers for Pluribus! Hip, hip, Hooray!
- tehm: Hip, hip, hooray!
- Pluribus: Now I have not idea where to start...
- Pluribus: No idea on the herb smoking...
- Pluribus: Lehman, If the yeasts arent available then it is unlikely
- Pluribus: The dead body is just that.
- Yendor: How many / who are the Oracles of Seven?
- Telanoc: Veritas, since I created Steam Mechanics, the answer from my point of view is: Yes, it worked as I expected and hoped.
- Aubery: all we need a is a special blend of herbs to smake to get a gift of one perception
- Pluribus: Yendor, let me check
- toothless: dead body dont hapen on their own, well unless they both died of old game/illness at the same time
- blondie: who gotthe highest achievements? highest herb count? highest focus ? :D *cough cough*
- toothless: any steam machine you wish where available ?
- Morrigan: SteamBOATS
- Morrigan: sailing up and down the Nile for transport
- Feyth: Lawnmower, Suggestion by my daughter. We have sil collectors why not a lownmower
- Telanoc: Well, no, since if I had wanted them, I would have made them...
- mattphat: steam powered water evaporater to quicken saltpeter production ;)
- Safa: faster airships
- blondie: two person airships, two person ferries...
- toothless: how about pedalo ?
- Telanoc: As for the tax collector, that scene was paired with the smugglers camp in the extreme south of Egypt
- brucette: I had a scythe named Lawnmower a few tales ago
- Morendo: Scythes that extend beyond Flint and Glass.
- brucette: lol, steam powered water avaporator... almost an oxymoron
- toothless: oh that is what the camp was about , i knew i was forgeting something
- brucette: smugglers camp... -1839 -5054
- Telanoc: I created both of them one day when I was wandering about Egypt. I hoped they were crypt but interesting enough for people to wonder what they were
- Telanoc: That is all they ever were, something to find and wonder about.
- brucette: Telanoc wandered Egypt? DIdn't know you knew a way off of your island ;)
- Morrigan: certainly had that effect Tel.
- tehm: Does Camp Deco (the skill) over level 1 do anything anymore?
- GHawkins: Do you have any way to see who constructed the most Ceremonial Voting Booths? Who were the top three and how many did each build?
- Telanoc: It is like the trinkets. The "cost" is almost nothing, and it give you all a little mystery, something to wonder what we might be up to next
- Veritas: Pluribus/Telanoc: Who harvestesd the most flax, and how much?
- Pluribus: tehm, it used too looks commented out, will ask the other devs why
- brucette: I know Sabuli got the 77,777 flax achievement the other day
- blondie: ohh, i got a good one, who passed the most people on acro (not counting if you logged on someone else to help pass) ?
- Ariella: Camp Deco skill used to bling out the guild halls. was pretty nice
- Odis: camp deco was for the old guild halls. Some idiot decided the amaxing old models all needed to change to the one new guild hall model that isnt upgradeable
- merek: I thought camp deco got commented out because the new Guiild Hall models didn't support it? At least I think that's the explanation we were given a while back.
- Yendor: Fortuantely that idiot isn't in charge anymore
- toothless: one guild to rule them all XD
- Ariella: But since the skill for Camp Deco was still buyuble peeps kept wasting mats paying for it.
- agrajag: Plur - you found that pretty fast, mind sharing with us just how big the ATITD client codebase is?
- Pluribus: Agrarjag: Client NOT countoing external libraries is 112K lines of code...
- Pluribus: T6 game script is 367K, T7 currently is 391K and counting
- Pluribus: Server is 44K LOC
- LehmanHotep: grep is a magical thing :)
- Maxion: if they have good names for things in the code, searching should be easy enough
- agrajag: Damn. Thanks :)
- TreekaSu: I think it STI|NKS tha you lit the bonfires...I couldnt be here...took me forever to get my 5 million wood...
- Tamutnefret: Does that 112k lines include game script?
- Tamutnefret: Oh never mind then :-)
- Tamutnefret: I'm interested in how fishing skill increases worked this tale. Pam needed 31,000 fish to get level 7 :-)
- Pluribus: They stunk :-) how is that for an answer :-)
- Tamutnefret: Fully acceptable answer and totally agreed! Thanks :-)
- Naia: Is Beetle breeding character specific, or can anyone breed any pattern ?
- toothless: lol so to level fishing did we have to be hit by lightnign at the same time we won the lotery ?
- TreekaSu: Im sorry...I worked the whole tale on this...so Zo and I could have a nice time at the end of the tale, I am SICK...I couldnt be here..A little notice would have been nice
- Yendor: Did you ever post the answer about Oracles of Seven?
- brucette: Renard, cate & Sabuli
- tamb: treekasu, make sure you are subscribed to the newsletter (and check for it in spam filters), this was published a couple weeks ago, and again today
- Pluribus: I have given you wood back... have fun.
- TreekaSu: I am, just got mne a few hours ago
- TreekaSu: and it didnt say he would light all the bonfires
- mattphat: What were the most and least passed tests?
- Morrigan: well it did NOT say he would set fire to all the bonfires yes
- lazyburr: most passed tests were harmony least passed were thought
- Morendo: Given wood by Pluribus, sounds like a good achievement.
- tehm: in T7 (hope you can answer this) will we get advance notice ahead of Story events? I hate to miss em!
- Hetepheres: whats the percentage of preorders for each tier of prepay?
- Pluribus: tehm, I seem to remember EVERYONE getting notice that the telling ended at 3PM
- Pluribus: (almost 4 hours ago)....
- Ariella: I second that question hetepheres
- Coyotl: Actually yeah, I'm curious--how many pre-orders?
- merek: The census shows players in disciplines. Is there any census that shows the actual "home location" set by players by region?
- toothless: yes it was prety clear about the time
- Maxion: i think tehm means other story events
- Morrigan: nope
- Pluribus: Merek, No there are not sorry.
- Pluribus: Maxion, By doing that, it eliminates the possibility of any flash events... and removes the mystery... (A mysterious stranger arrives from another land at 5pm next tuesday) kinda losses something
- tehm: What I mean about Story events is in the tale with Sami and Wahim, I think Wahim would just show up and a contest for a microphone would start (for example). If you run events like that would they be no-notice or would something be on the calendar?
- Morrigan: " Come join us for the end of Tale celebration and amnesty. Starting 3PM Central time (GMT-0500) TODAY. The servers will remain up and open until Noon Central Time, September 8, 2015, after which Tale 6 will be set to developer only mode for export to Tale 7."
- Feyth: any savy people want to make an event app to notify on our phones from the calander?
- Morrigan: By the way, are the wine notebooks buggy?
- Hetepheres: i like that idea feyth
- brucette: oh Feyth, that would be COOL
- LehmanHotep: I just completed the beginner notebook from scratch at the amnesty party, so that one at least seems fine today
- Hetepheres: just do ios, android and windows phones please :P
- Feyth: that would cover flash events if its posted as it starts?
- Morrigan: and maybe something for those of us without smart phones? email or something?
- Peacefulness: make friends with players who can notify you when something exciting is going on?
- Hetepheres: maybe post events to facebook? or twitter? wait, there are people without smart phones?
- toothless: yes i am alergic to phone any kind
- blondie: designated event teller
- blondie: we do make posts on facebook. How do you think we got some of the monument people? :D
- LehmanHotep: Is there some undiscovered depth to fumeology? Not necesarily what it is if it'll be the same in T7, but just whether there's anything worth figuring out.
- Morrigan: Some of us don't do facebook, or smart phones.
- Balthazarr: ~*~*~ I have been asked a question many times in recent weeks, and I have an answer for all of Egypt. I must admit that I have logged into multiple accounts and I have the PWs for many other players. For the last month, I have been HOUNDED by KalmKitty and her husband Hounddog relentlessly for logging in other players accounts, EVERYONE of those players gave me their PWs with specific INSTRUCTIONS and LIMITATIONS as to what I could do and not do with their accounts. For the most part they were only used for festivals to bump up the participation percentage or for using their TT to haul things. One DP asked me to tend to their camp after having emergency surgery; two other sick DP's asked me to do similar tasks. Today, one of two things just happened either a DP logged into another DP's account or a GM logged into a DP's account to affect the third ban used today. I will let you all know that I have access to the accounts of 5 DP's and I would never DARE to ever use another DP's ban, or try to hide behind another account to do ANYTHING distasteful liken that. FYI, in T3 I had access to twice as many DP's passwords and the passwords of no less then two dozen other players. Players give me their passwords since I can be trusted and I have integrity. BTW, if I was doing anything wrong I seriously doubt that Hounddog would NOT have used his GM powers to jail any and all accounts that I was inappropriately using or logged into. Next tale if Avanya comes back and runs for DP HOW will she explain then exiling of Valin?
- Hetepheres: to those of you who don't do facebook or smartphones, how would you like to be notified of events out of game? email?
- Veritas: I would like a postcard.
- toothless: smoke signal
- Feyth: Wait Avanya is being used by someone else? Did i read that right??
- agrajag: Does it really matter if anyone gets banned at this point? Really?
- tehm: does it have to be out of game? I would prefer just seeing it pop onto the calendar like the weekend competitions do... but for Story
- tamb: other than they cant preorder, if they have not already
- Morrigan: email!
- Morrigan: we have verified emails now, so why not use the system?
- Morrigan: something that takes the Calendar and sends stuff out would help a lot.
- Yendor: The real avanya is very ill, so it is alsmot certain someone else used her ban power. Which reflects badly on Avalina for misplaced trust and is *extremely bad* for whomever logged in as her
- Feyth: Using someone elses DP power does matter even at this point
- Morrigan: couldn't see smoke signals here merek, they still use coal.
- Sheba: It does if they hadn't prepaid :)
- Saledo: Im trying to remember what the corp used in Eve but it had options for apps/sms/desktop chat
- Odis: This is tale. EVERYTHING matters.
- Veritas: Plurbis: When will benches stop being inviting and let me sit on them!?!
- Kalmkitty: As a DP I used the power given to me to do what DPs do. Thats how it works. But personal attacks and griefing are beyond what shouldbe tolerated by any player and if a player came to me with the treatement i have been shown. I would have found a way to resolve it. including banning the harassing player. If Pluribus condones the harassment i have received i would respectfully request a full refund for my full tale purchase.
- Yendor: I was a DP in T3. The only circumstances under which I would *ever* use anotehr DPs ban power was if they were on the other end of a live phone conversation
- Pluribus: I dont condone harassment of players, however as stated in the Rules of Conduct #3 which states "We do not have a policy against offensive behavior, but be aware - if you offend the other players, they have the power to punsh you. They can even exile you permanently from the land of Egypt... If you choose to behave in a way that is annoying to other players, we well not protect you from their wrath"
- Pluribus: As a DP, you have the power to keep banning people, you chose not to use it...
- lazyburr: griefing should be handled by DP's and not GM's as stated in CoC
- Saledo: ATITD as Carebear as ever lol
- Feyth: Using another DP's Ban power is not acceptable either
- Hetepheres: So how about them preorder stats? lol
- Kalmkitty: I do not have avanyas password. and HD was outside cooking.. perhaps Balth has it among the other 30 pl he can log in
- LuluDivine: Look, there are 2 days left in tale. Obviously, none of the things like property destruction or bans have any real lasting impact right now. Explosive use is certainly a typical 'DP intervention' situation, though, so I'm not sure what's so controversial here? What did I miss?
- lazyburr: the "harrassment" and griefing done to you was exactly what you did to lazybum and I did what was in my power to keep you out of the festivities as you did with me
- LuluDivine: Now, DPs giving their passwords out to enough people that it's impossible to know who really carried out a ban is problematic, as a general matter. I suppose I care a lot less about the actual impact, here, since we're two days before tale end - but as a general matter, DPs have to be pretty careful about account access...
- toothless: i do think the trade spam was diserving of it, but not the name calling . can easily ignore them
- Yendor: Since this *is* amnesty, does anyone want to admit to logging in as Anyolina?
- Pluribus: If it becomes an issue, I can out the perp, if it will make KK happy.
- lazyburr: it was me
- Veritas: What are character requirements to vote for a DP, just be a citizen?
- Morendo: Sounds like a good law to try to pass in T7 is that if any DP is found sharing their password, they lose their DP status.
- Kalmkitty: I cannot ban anyone when i have "too many windows" open and cannot even chat or warp away
- toothless: might as well just say it , it is time to share secret
- Sheba: I did it :)
- blondie: why do you bring up anyolina , yendor ? avanya was the one that banned someone today
- Odis: Did I miss something, ive been back and forth. What about anyolina now?
- Yendor: Ooops, sorry I meant Ananya
- LehmanHotep: Players really have zero way to prove somebody shared a password unless the person confesses it.
- toothless: yep and i can make any claim i want to have any pw , but if a law is passed it become law
- Feyth: So since this is amnesty I stole all of blondie's honey... i just wanted a small smackerel mmmnommmnomnom
- Yendor: I would like to know who logged on Ananya so I will know never to support him/her in a DP round
- agrajag: Any plans to implement 2 factor auth at some point?
- merek: I haven't been around much for T6, but in past tales, during DP debates candidates were usually asked whether anyone else had access to their account.
- Balthazarr: Considering I was TOLD by YOU KalmKitty to ASK HOUNDDOG to log in Avanya to build the center section of the mega that was built last week, it is highly unlikely that I would have had to ask HOUNDDOG to log in an account that I have a PW for. Lets be for real just once in a while.
- Kalmkitty: I just want to not be harassed in this tale and in t7 which i have been threatened with already
- Kalmkitty: i never told youthat.. i never told you anything about mega
- toothless: if there is legetimate harassment it will be delt with acordingly
- Lindie: this is a friendly game everyone why would anyone threaten anyone?
- Kalmkitty: I never told you to ask HD about mega.
- Vodka: I love drinking vodka every day!!!
- lazyburr: well see KK... explosives are alot like dp's... only as bad as the community allows them to be
- Morrigan: LOL@Lindie
- toothless: i never brush my teeth!
- kuupid: http://www.gofundme.com/rb63ms
- LuluDivine: So, were peope banned for explosives, or for harassing Kalmkitty?
- Pluribus: Lulu, I think it was a bit of both.... My take on it was KK banned Lazybum after Amnesty started, He came back with alt after alt to annoy her into using all her bans....
- Morrigan: This is a "non-violent" game - but folks can be VERRRY nasty.
- Kalmkitty: ok balth.be real ..list every char name you can log in.
- Lindie: what?
- Augir: both
- toothless: both and 3rd is unknown
- lazyburr: both
- Kalmkitty: LB for explosives his alt for harassment.
- Coyan: Lulu, the answer to that question is yes
- Maxion: both lulu
- Yendor: Lazybum was banned [presumably] for explosives. Kokabeel was banned for harrassing KalmKitty. I do not know anything about Valin's ban.
- Markanthony: Nice party.
- Morrigan: getting to the bitter end now.
- Pluribus: emphasis on bitter... sigh...
- lazyburr: valin was banned for giving kalmkitty fish... i thought all cats like fish but apperantly not
- Saledo: Thats always been an issue with a certain type in ATITD, they think cause its no direct conflict they have the right to never be offended either
- Pluribus: I think that has denigrated enough... we are done here...
- Pluribus: Sorry all, but it is getting nasty and I can dont want to keep this up
- Pluribus: I am back to working on the bitcoin store... (I will beat it into submission.)
- Pluribus: All, Please check your Utility/Billing/Account Information and let me know if your preorder information is incorrect.
- Pluribus: Players looking to pay by bitcoin... It is buggier than I expected. If you have issues and it is cranky and not accepting that you have paid. Drop me a tell with that and what preorder you were trying to purchase. if it failed due to a price difference, I will honor the earlier exchange rate. just let me know before I take the server down
- Pluribus: I will spend the morning completing the last of the paypal straglers and handling any billing calls...
