Camp Setup Guide

From A Wiki in the Desert
  • Compound materials costs are calculated from distance away from initial door of compound.

Compound Layout 1 Brick Racks and Water.jpg

Brick Rack Layout.jpg
  • THE IDEA IS TO BE ABLE TO STAND AND BE OVERLOADED (CANNOT MOVE) BUT STILL REACH ALL NEEDED MACHINES FOR RESOURCES AND ACTIONS)
  • Build on a shore.
  • Brick racks (5x5 per rack). (cannot be seen in above pic in lower right of compound next to camel pen, see smaller pic)
    • Place a sign with Make 300 Bricks on label. In information box put
 300 bricks on 5 x 5 layout
 150 Mud
 100 Straw
 50 Sand
 300 Firebricks = 250 silt + 50 sand
    • Stand in center of future 5 x 5 layout of brick racks on one corner of compound WHERE YOU SEE BOTH SAND AND MUD ICONS. Total area is 25 x 25. You can overload with sand/mud/straw and reach all racks.
    • Greenhouses are placed by camel pen for straw retrieval while standing in center of brick racks overloaded.
    • Flax Hammocks against camel pens between row of greenhouses and end of compound to stand in one spot and Harvest Grass/Take Grass to dry in hammocks then place in camel pen.
  • Papyrus tanks, Tubs, Kettles (4 x 5 layout), Acid Baths near enough to water to stand where you can see Water Icon (have a jug in Inventory) and reach those machines without moving.
  • Warehouse by camel pen, compound edge, flax hammocks, papyrus tanks, brick racks, paper presses to reach all machines without moving to harvest papyrus, store it, dry it and use it to make paper while overloaded. Also used to store flower bulbs, Nut's Essence, Solvents for working on genetics in Greenhouses.
  • Group of warehouses in centerish of each compound near kettles to reach materials for fertilizer making, etc.
    • Several thousand Jugs, Rotten Fish wood nearby for making fertilizer.
    • Thousands of herbs, fish, meat, etc. for ingredients for making meals in Kitchens. Dedicated Mushroom warehouse or two also.
  • Kettles, kilns and charcoal ovens together near Bonfire Platform because they all use wood.
  • Bonfire platform built to stand and reach for kettles, kilns and ovens. In picture it should have been between group of warehouses and compound edge.
  • Kitchens in each compound to stand overloaded and fish and work on various machines simultaneously. Food boosts stats for reducing stat timers (you can click faster).
  • Build 5 x 5 grid of True Kilns (later replaced with non-crumbling ?? Kilns). Make nearby Sign that says 6 wood and 12 Wet Jugs in each oven, etc.
  • Build Glazier Benches (to make glass) where you can load in sand for initial build. Will usually need at least 3 for each type of glass and can usually run 2-3 of each at once.

Compound Layout 2 Forges Distaffs.jpg

  • Faction banner for stat boost in between compounds.
  • Build a 5 x 3 or 4 grid of carpentry benches. Stand in center, minimize chats, hold down P key and move cursor around grid to quickly make boards.
  • Build a 5 x 4 or 5 grid of Pottery Wheels. Stand in center, minimize chats, hold down J key and move cursor around grid every 1 minute.
  • Build forges together with carpentry benches, pottery wheels, rock saws, mason benches, and flax machines. Forging takes time, so while you wait between batches if you have other machines nearby you can get other things made like boards, jugs, stone products and flax chores.
  • Warehouses within reach for supplies. You can build a Bonfire (only built outside of your compound) within reach of your carpentry benches to grab wood to make boards.
  • Grid 3 x 3 Rock Saws.
  • Build Forges and Casting Boxes and one Master's Forge and one Master's Casting Box (or save room for one, its expensive).
  • Build grid of Distaffs together with a Hand Loom and Hackling Rack near those. Save room for improved machines later.
  • While waiting on Forge and Casting Box timers to make items you can plane Wood, make jugs on Pottery Wheels, cut stone on Rock Saws, work on flax stuff in between.
