General Notes
Per Malard (Discord #general, 3 August 2021):
veg will affect eco 3 ways
1) when watered
2) when harvested
3) when it is left to die and return to seed
Letting a vegetable return to seed has the opposite effect of the effect when watered. These effects are addition to the effect on the water table from all vegetables when harvested.
Methodology
As a general practice, it's a good idea to start in a clean area, and record your local baseline (0 Growth Cycles) before doing tests.
Vegetables
Cabbage
The primary effect of growing cabbage is reducing pH (increasing soil acidity). It was also stated by Malard that the secondary effect of cabbage changes the soot level. The pH change happens on harvest. Yield determination appears to be based on the pH level at the time the vegetable reaches the harvestable state.
