Philae

Philae is an irregularly shaped region near the center of Egypt. It's eastern border is with Upper Egypt. Swenett lies to its north and Elephantine to its south. It has eastern borders with Western Desert as well as Kerma, which cuts into the region and gives it its irregular shape. Philae's southeastern most point is at 499, -3135 in a small range of foothills. This is part of the grassy eastern meadows. Philae's southwestern most point is at -900, -3135. This area is mostly desert with some impassable terrain. Philae's lower northwestern corner is at -900, -2321 on a sandy mound that continues to gain elevation into the Kerma region. The border with Kerma continues west until -349, -2321 and then turns north. The terrain here is still sandy, with some rocky outcrops in the distance. Philae's upper northwestern corner is at -349, -1310. This area is flat desert as far as the eye can see. Finally, Philae's northeastern corner lies at 499, -1310. This is in a small desert valley between two grassy mountains.

Philae's eastern lands are grassy with rolling hills. It's center and western lands are largely desert with several rocky outcroppings. One major outcropping occurs near the border between the grasslands and the desert in the central third of the region. Another occurs in the south at the border with Elephantine.

Philae contains the source for a river that flows from near its central desert west into Kerma. There is a significant southern tributary which itself branches out in many directions at it's terminus creating a series of small lakes. Philae is bisected in its southern third by an east-west road connecting Upper Egypt with the Western Desert.

Natural Resources

Trees

See map below and click on the green T pins for Trees. In order to reduce the number of pins, each pine represents clusters of trees that are within a few tens of coordinates of the pin. I also haven't recorded every stray Towering Palm or Stout Palm that appear frequently throughout Egypt.

Interesting Landmarks

178, -1964: a large rocky mountain with a small raised ring of sand around it making the mountain difficult to access.

Schools and Universities

-892, -2601: School of Worship. Interestingly, the accompanying University of Worship is just across the border in the Western Desert. 379, -1622: A University of Worship and its accompanying School of Worship.

Notable Guilds and Homesteads

The guild, Family, has many buildings at the border between Philae, Swenett, and Upper Egypt.
