What is a Microphone

A Microphone is an object that creates an Egypt-wide chat channel. However, the game requires a Moderator to actively post players' messages via a Callboard. If there is no Moderator available, posts will not appear in the channel. Only 1 Moderator may hold the Callboard for the mic at a time. You can also find the Microphone in Egypt and speak in main, broadcasting your message without the Moderator (this is generally not appreciated).

It requires 3 Microphone Parts or 1 Untuned Microphone to assemble a microphone

Join a Microphone channel by typing "/join <name of channel>" in chat

  • "/join" is case sensitive

List of T9 Microphones

Mic Name Mod Guild Purpose
e-mote The Speakeasy General Egypt chat
Trad-e Trad-e Mainly Trade and General Egypt chat if e-mote is down
The Hive The Speakeasy NSFW: The Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy returns!
Worship no guild Coordination of worship tests. Any player can moderate. 1895, 1962

Microphone Settings

I have no idea, but use Utility->Talkshow->Area Host (thank you Augir)
Set the Microphone to Use by Elder only. This is the setting to PICK UP AND WALK AWAY with the mic.

Moderating

A box will appear and messages will be shown as they are typed by folks around Egypt.

  • S: Save the message for later (pins it)
  • P: Post
  • x: Delete

Setting up an Untuned Microphone

  • An untuned microphone is an inventory item, but it currently has no artwork. Dropping it can be problematic. You will only see a pink box, which may flicker and be difficult to click on to pick it back up. Try clicking on your avatar, Utility, Temporarily make nearby portables look like bags.
  • With the untuned microphone in your inventory, click on your avatar, Special, Tune a Microphone
  • Pop-up window: Name of station? This is what players will type in to join the channel.
  • The microphone is automatically dropped where you are standing. You can pick it back up and drop it elsewhere if the spot isn't to your liking.
