Background

The Papyrus page has a lot of disorganized information about growing papyrus in the wild. One assertion is that you shouldn't grow papyrus after 3pm. This assertion seems to have been made based on an experiment, but only a single data point is provided. It also doesn't help anyone understand when after 3pm they may safely start planting again.

Hypothesis

Papyrus yields vary in a predictable manner based on the time of day in Egypt.

Method

Ten papyrus seeds will be planted 5 coordinates apart at different times of day in the exact same location. Yields will be recorded.

Data

For this experiment I have chosen to use the known-good papyrus run at -170 latitude. This section of the Nile is fairly straight and has no nearby bodies of water that can hide papyrus yields. Planting will start at exactly -170 on the east bank and proceed north.
