Advance as an Architect by building the largest Obelisk in your faction.
Test Description
The test of the Obelisk requires that you build the largest Obelisk of its kind for your faction.
You must exceed the current largest Obelisk by at least a single cubit. Also, you must retain the title of largest Obelisk that your faction has ever controlled for at least 2 days 8 hours (for a Desert Obelisk) while remaining inside your faction territory.
For each additional region your faction has the support of when the Obelisk is constructed, this time is reduced by 1 hour 7 minutes and 12 seconds (again for a Desert Obelisk).
By meditating on Obelisks (Tests Menu), you can sense what the various kinds of obelisks are, and the heights of the Obelisks that came before.
Principles
Principles of the Obelisk will help you build a small Desert Obelisk. If you know how to build a more advanced type of Obelisk, doing so will also complete Principles of the Obelisk.
- Learn Project Management
- Create Bricks on a Brick Rack
- Create Boards
- Gather Slate
- Harvest Flax
- Dry Flax in a Drying Rack or Flax Hammock
- Gather Clay
- Make Linen
- Gather Flint from Clay Beds
- Build a Small Construction Site
- Complete a size 8 or larger Obelisk
Rules for passing the Test of the Obelisk
- From the University of Architecture if you are at least level 3.
- To pass, you must build the tallest obelisk of its type (example: Desert Obelisk) in a region controlled by your Faction (not in any of your 3 permanent Faction regions). Your obelisk must be at least one cubit higher than any other obelisk in the area.
- Furthermore, the region you build in must be controlled by your Faction at the time when you build it and at the time your obelisk passes. This distinction is important especially for obelisks that take longer to pass. You cannot pass by building your obelisk in a territory your faction OWNS, it must be built in a territory your faction CONTROLS.
- Before building, click Self -> Tests... -> Architecture... -> Test of the Obelisk -> Meditate on Obelisks to see the current heights of each of the types of obelisks in the area.
- You must retain the title of largest Obelisk that [your Faction] has ever controlled for at least 2 days 8 hours (for a Desert Obelisk.) while remaining inside [your Faction] territory.
- For each additional region [your Faction] has the support of when your type of Obelisk is constructed, the time to hold power and pass the test is reduced by 1 hour 7 minutes 12 seconds (again for a Desert Obelisk.)
- You may or may not decide to sign up in a queue to build and avoid an obelisk war of continual overbuilding. The links to each faction queue is below.
- Is there a message given when you DO pass, that you just wait for? Or do you need to go to the obelisk and check on it?
Disassembling or Tearing Down your Obelisk
- You may not Disassemble or Utility -> Tear Down if yours is the tallest and 'holds power' in that area.
- If your type of obelisk is overbuilt, you may Disassemble or Utility -> Tear Down in the time frame of being overbuilt until the new highest obelisk passes the test.
Passing the Principle
Material list for size 8 obelisk
280 Bricks for Structure
28 Boards for Structure
6 Slate for Trim
4 Dried flax as an Offering
28 Clay for Filler
9 Linen as an Offering
2 Flint as Consecration
To Pass principle you will need to gather and/or make at least 1 of each item above and construct an obelisk of at least size 8 in a small construction site.
NOTE: The Make Linen step must be done using a Hand Loom or Student's Loom, an Automatic Loom won't count.
